I'm Not Scared is a Buena Vista Home Entertainment release and is rated
R.
The running time is 1 hr. 41 mins.
I knew nothing about this movie before putting into the DVD player. I missed it in theaters, hadn't even read the synopsis I posted, or watched the trailer, I didn't even know it was in Italian. The one thing that drew me into this film was the poster art, anything that creepy looking had to be a good movie. With such websites like IMPAwards.com dedicated to showcasing movie artwork it is undeniable at how much they affect the success of a movie.
The gleaming eyes on the cover of the DVD and the shrouded body underneath the title treatment had me believing this was the movie for me, and while it is a bit slow it certainly has its moments of shock, especially with an ending that is sure to give you a jerk.
Brought to you by the director of the 1991 Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film,
Mediterraneo,
I'm Not Scared finds 10-year-old Michele living his life out as a young Italian boy playing with his friends without a care in the world.
Then one day things change, as he happens across a hole in a secluded area of the Italian countryside. As he peers into the hole and as light shines on the ground below he suddenly realizes he is staring down on a partially covered body. In obvious shock he runs home, only to have his interest grow, and once he learns the identity of the body in the hole the story takes a rousing turn.
Ignore the fact it is in subtitles, you can read can't you?
I'm Not Scared is a creepy trip into the human psyche, and while it is not without its faults and a couple of editing issues
I'm Not Scared not only offers up some creepy scenarios it is also another excuse to put the beautiful landscape Italy has to offer back on the big screen.
