I, Robot is a Fox Home Entertainment release and is rated PG-13.

The running time is 2 hrs. 5 mins..

One of the best movies of the summer was definitely I, Robot, right up there with Collateral and The Bourne Supremacy. I had very little expectation for this film as I walked into the theater, but thanks to a great plotline, awesome special effects and brilliant camera work I, Robot outperformed itself en route to a $144 million box-office tally.

Director Alex Proyas takes the short stories of Isaac Asimov and weaves them into a suspenseful tale of robots gone wild as we enter the year 2035 and find Detective Del Spooner (Smith), a man who doesn't trust robots whatsoever, but has to live with the fact that the world is on the eve of the largest distribution of robots ever. While this shouldn't be a problem considering the robots are "3 Laws Safe," which basically means they cannot hurt humans, something goes terribly wrong and only Spooner can save the day.

This film was masterful in the theater, primarily for the awesome camera work Proyas employs turning your average action scenes into 360 degree whirlwinds, and while the DVD cannot fully appreciate this technique it is still wildly noticeable. On top of the appealing visuals this DVD also offers up a DTS track along with your standard 5.1 Dolby Surround.

As for features there really isn't exactly a lot to brag about considering there is only one "Making-of" featurette and an audio commentary with director Alex Proyas and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and a still gallery, which never impresses me. During online promotion of the film, the official site contained plenty of behind-the-scenes looks making for the featurette to be nothing too new and the commentary is pretty much standard, not offering too much to brag about.

Special features aside though, this is a great buy and definitely one of the blockbuster standouts of the year.
