I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is a Universal Studios Home Entertainment release and is rated PG-13.

The running time is 1 hr. 50 mins..

As a critic it is always fun to write reviews telling people just how bad something is. Hating something and writing about it is fun and easy, but to do it more than once for a certain film just isn't worth it and quite frankly becomes tedious and unnecessary. So, when I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry arrived on HD DVD I actually dreaded it. Not only because this is a terrible movie, but because the HD DVD is packed full of features including an HD DVD exclusive U-Control feature, two audio commentaries and enough featurettes to make me hate life. If you are wondering if I watched them all you can stop now... I didn't.

Aside from the fact that Chuck and Larry is just plain stupid it also runs just shy of two hours, which is about 30 minutes too long for a comedy of this sort. Kevin James and Adam Sandler play New York City firemen that have to stage a gay relationship and ultimately marry each other in order to get out of a jam. The story then proceeds into lunacy involving gratuitous shots of Jessica Biel's insanely perfect body, Steve Buscemi playing a man that I could never believe exists and a ludicrous courtroom proceeding. All of it adds up to two hours of wasted life... time I will never get back.

As far as the features go, I sat down and watched the film with the U-Control "Friendship Test" running from the start, which is a pop-up quiz that tests your commitment to your friends throughout the film and gives you a grade at the end. Along with that I bounced back and forth between the film and the two audio commentaries, one of which is a solo venture with director David Dobkin and the other includes Dobkin, Sandler and James. Neither of them was impressive and outside of Sandler pointing out his relatives in the film I wasn't entertained in the least.

The featurettes include a variety of gag reels, special effects and stunt featurettes, a look at the actors that had cameo appearances and generic making-of featurettes. I think the best sign of a bad comedy is when you see the stars watching scene playback and laughing hysterically while everyone else on set is sitting there straight-faced and looking annoyed. Not a good sign.

I would never recommend people buy this, watch this or even know this film exists. Unfortunately, the film made almost $120 million at the box-office so I think I am too late.
