Poor ole Disney, they're in a bit of an animated funk and
Home on the Range certainly didn't help the smell as this bovine driven film is just proof of the continuing decline of Disney animation that sinks to a lower level than even
Brother Bear managed to achieve. Want proof, just check the list of special features, yeah one disc and a minuscule amount of kiddy fun... nuff said.
I am, of course, speaking from my own personal viewpoint on the film, which will be different from that of children and depending on your kids they may find this one a hootin' good time, but sooner or later all that yodeling has got to get to the parents. Doesn't it?
As for special features the kids may enjoy the games including a memory game, a yodel maker on DVD-ROM and a joke corral. My personal opinion on these games is that any joke I have to wait a couple seconds for the DVD to find the punch line is a joke not worth hearing, and I feel sorry for the parent that has to sit through each one of these just to entertain the little ones.
Following that are some making-of goods that are anything but, some deleted scenes, a music video by the Beu Sisters and a Bonus Short featuring the characters from the movie recreating
The Three Little Pigs.
Compared to other Disney titles this is an empty DVD, and while I applaud their attempt to make it worthwhile I just can't endorse this one as parents will be forced to suffer each time their child will want to watch this one. My suggestion for a new and recent Disney DVD would be the recent
Lion King 2 release, it is a much better watch.
