Home Improvement - The Complete First Season is a Buena Vista Home Entertainment release and is rated .
It is hard to believe that it was 13 years ago when "Home Improvement" first hit the air but it is so, and finally Buena Vista is bringing Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor to DVD for the first time with the complete first season. "Home Improvement" is a "more power" filled half-hour comedy show that was light on the sex-filled sitcoms we are used to now and focused on the comedy of everyday life, a clumsy tool man and his family.

Tim Allen really jump started his career with the show, after which he has since taken part in 15 feature films since the show first hit back in 1991 including the popular character Buzz Lightyear from the two Toy Story films and of course jolly old Saint Nick in The Santa Clause. Starting off his career as a comic "Home Improvement" was originally based on his early comedy sketches and grew into a show that America came to love for eight straight years.

The complete first season DVD comes with all 24 episodes along with audio commentary on three of the episodes, including the series Pilot, with show creators Carmen Finestra and David McFadzean. There is also a segment called "Loose Screws," which plays as a highlight reel for several of the show's funny moments, it is really reminiscent of one the Seinfeld 100 Episode celebration.

I personally love this show and see it as one of the television shows that managed to retain its original scope ever since its Pilot episode. Whereas most shows tend to gravitate more towards drama, such as "Friends" did in its final hours, "Home Improvement" remembered its roots and kept to what made it popular for so many years.

If you want a preview of the show before buying just tune your television to any of your local stations that broadcast syndicated shows and you are sure to find it, but let me assure you, like any other TV show, commercial-free is the way to go.
