A better name could not have been found for this film, once you get to the end of the movie
A Home at the End of the World fits like a glove. This film is an emotional adventure through the 70s and 80s that celebrates commitment, friendship and love in a way that I cannot remember ever seeing.
Often times a movie like this is turned into a comedy when you have one bi-curious man, a homosexual man and a heterosexual woman all living under the same roof, but
A Home at the End of the World takes that living situation and embraces it as a reality and delivers a powerfully emotional movie brought to life by a group of very talented actors.
Led by Colin Farrell and his childlike acting the rest of the cast falls right in line by becoming their role. Farrell along with Sissy Spacek, Robin Wright-Penn and Dallas Roberts deliver extremely gutsy performances, not to mention Erik Smith and Harris Allan who play young versions of Farrell's and Roberts's characters.
This is a wonderful film that proves Colin Farrell is more than just a pretty face to be adored by young women, it breaks boundaries and brings to the screen a very risky tale.
The DVD comes with a short behind-the-scenes featurette and the theatrical trailer, but nothing beyond that. This is not a special-effect driven movie so more would have been overkill, this is a movie for open-minded people and is certainly one of the better films of 2004.
