Harry Potter Quadrilogy: Years 1-4 (DVD)

SYNOPSIS:
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001): Adaptation of the first of J.K. Rowlingís popular childrenís novels about Harry Potter, a boy who learns on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. He is summoned from his life as an unwanted child to become a student at Hogwarts, an English boarding school for wizards. There, he meets several friends who become his closest allies and help him discover the truth about his parentsí mysterious deaths at the hands of a powerful adversary.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002): Harry Potter (Radcliffe) has not had a good summer. Not only has he had to put up with his overbearing Aunt Petunia (Shaw) and Uncle Vernon Dursley (Griffiths) and their dread of his magical abilities, but it seems as if Harry’s best friends Ron Weasley (Grint) and Hermione Granger (Watson) have forgotten him as they haven’t replied to a single one of his letters. Then, suddenly and mysteriously, house-elf Dobby appears in Harry’s bedroom and warns him of great danger if he should attempt to return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Dobby is so eager to prevent the young Gryffindor from returning to Hogwarts, he has blocked all of Ron and Hermione’s correspondence from reaching Harry. But despite the elf’s mischievous efforts, the ever-determined Harry is rescued from the Dursleys’ dreary clutches by Ron and his brothers – with the aid of a flying car! – and whisked into the warmth of the Weasley household.

But when Harry and Ron are suspiciously prevented from entering Platform 9 æ and boarding the Hogwarts Express back to school, the boys take emergency action to avoid being late for the new term – only to incur the wrath of Professor Snape (Rickman), who calls for their expulsion after they crash the flying Ford Anglia into Hogwarts’ enchanted Whomping Willow tree.

Meanwhile, news of Harry’s first year heroism has spread throughout Hogwarts and he finds himself the center of much unwanted attention. His new fans include Ron’s little sister Ginny (Wright); first year would-be photographer Colin Creevey (Mitchell); and most irritatingly, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, Gilderoy Lockhart (Branagh).

Outshone only by his own vanity, Lockhart craves the attention that Harry shuns and is all too willing to associate himself with Hogwarts’ young hero. But not even Lockhart can offer an explanation for the sinister new terror that is gripping the school.

Now all eyes are on Harry, and his friends are beginning to doubt him. Everyone, that is, except Ron, Hermione and fragile young Ginny, whose focus has turned to her mysterious new diary.

But Harry is not about to let his friends down and, with or without the support of Gilderoy Lockhart, he will confront the dark force lurking in his beloved school.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004): Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third in the series of films based on J.K. Rowling's hugely popular novels. Academy Award nominee Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mamá También) takes the helm as director with David Heyman, Chris Columbus and Mark Radcliffe as producers.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and his friends Ron and Herimone return as teenagers to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard.

The story reunites Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in this third film as Harry, Ron and Hermione. The cast is joined by Gary Oldman, who plays the ominous figure of Sirius Black, Michael Gambon who takes on the role of Hogwart's reveered Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Julie Christie who plays the role of the big-hearted Three Broomsticks pub barmaid Madam Rosmerta and Emma Thompson as the eccentric Professor of Divination, Sibyll Trelawney.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005): In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's popular Harry Potter novel series, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) must contend with being mysteriously selected to compete in the prestigious Triwizard Tournament, a thrilling international competition that pits him against older and more experienced students from Hogwarts and two rival European wizarding schools. Meanwhile, supporters of Harry's nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), send a shockwave of fear throughout the wizard community when their Dark Mark scorches the sky at the Quidditch World Cup, signaling Voldemort's return to power. But for Harry, this is not the only harrowing news causing him anxiety -- he still has yet to find a date for Hogwarts' Yule Ball dance.
