Gone in 60 Seconds (Unrated Director's Cut) is a Buena Vista Home Entertainment release and has not yet been rated by the MPAA.
Is Gone in 60 Seconds really worth a Director's Cut? After watching this I would have to say not a chance, considering nothing particularly new caught my eye. This popcorn flick is still a raucous and wild ride, but the additional footage is minimal and barely noticeable, as for the special features... not too special.

After her spin as an AIDS inflicted fashion model in 1998's "Gia," then an Oscar-winning turn in Girl, Interrupted Angelina Jolie teamed up with Nicolas Cage in Gone in 60 Seconds, a car heist flick centering on a group of deviants brought together after six years of being out of the business to save Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi) as his master thief brother Randall 'Memphis' Raines (Cage) orchestrates the whole thing.

If there is one thing this flick boasts it is a large cast of names as Cage, Jolie and Ribisi are just a few of them considering Robert Duvall, Delroy Lindo, Chi McBride, Vinnie Jones and Timothy Olyphant also make up the cast, and while the names are great, the movie is so-so.

This is a Bruckheimer movie all the way and his ego and love for explosions not only work their way from the feature they also find themselves embedded into the special features as action is the only goal here, well that and a little "Bruck praise."

For a new release of a film I expected a lot more from the special features, at least a commentary or a DTS audio track would have been nice, but instead all we get are a group of very short featurettes focusing either on how great Jerry Bruckheimer is at bringing together the cast, the stunts of the film or the action as a whole.

Of these features the best of the group are the three short featurettes focusing on the car chase scene toward the end of the movie, and while the chase wasn't exactly impressive (especially that ridiculous jump at the end), the featurette is a cool look at special effects and how certain pieces of the chase were created. As for the rest, they are simply time fillers on a wasted Sunday afternoon.

This Director's Cut is far short of anything special and since there isn't an audio or visual upgrade to its predecessor I highly recommend you skip over it if you already own the earlier release. On the other hand, if you like the flick and don't have it in your collection yet, this is probably the one to grab as it is only going for $14 over at Amazon. Then again if you are a Sony PSP owner, I remind you it will be on UMD July 19th, click here for that.
