Before you go and ruin your opinion of Chili Palmer by watching Be Cool pick up this DVD, you won't be sorry.

Get Shorty is one of those hidden gems, a film that I had never seen and really wasn't all that interested in seeing until Be Cool perked my interest, and now I am hooked.

John Travolta stars as Chili Palmer, a loan-shark sent to LA to collect on a debt owed by Harry Zimm (Hackman). Thing is, once he arrives he begins to realize that this whole debt-collecting gig is wearing a little thin and Hollywood is looking quite good. So instead of beating down the B-movie producer he pitches him a script idea and quickly finds himself in the lap of Miss Hollywood herself, but his past is never far behind.

Get Shorty is a comedy with a mildly serious undertone, the script is absolutely amazing and each cast member delivers a performance to be remembered as dialogue and characters drive this well-crafted crew.

As for this special edition nothing is held back, with three all new featurettes, a new commentary by director Barry Sonnenfeld, a cool deleted scene, bloopers and outtakes, a Bravo special looking at the film from page-to-screen plus a sneak peek at the unworthy sequel Be Cool.

After watching this film I was floored and after watching the featurettes I loved it even more. If you already went out and saw Be Cool before seeing Get Shorty then I am sorry, but if not then skip the trash that is showing in theaters and pick up this special edition. It is smart, witty, funny and exciting all at once and with some of the best dialogue you are going to find in any film.
