The original story is a semi-autobiographical look at Hornby's devotion to soccer and his favorite team, Arsenal. Scribes Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel adapted the story to focus on the more American pastime of baseball. The new "Fever Pitch" revolves around a man (Fallon) obsessed with the Boston Red Sox and the woman (Barrymore) who gets pulled into the madness.
