The running time is 1 hr. 40 mins..
First off, there are two versions of this release, the simple version, which I am reviewing here and then the collector's version, which comes packaged in a "collectible" tin with six "collectible" photos, not that big of a difference.
First off let me say this is a great film. It is a fairy tale/love story/drama/comedy all wrapped into one and it is put together with such style and flair as only Tim Burton can achieve. Add Johnny Depp as the lead actor and Danny Elfman as your composer and you have a recipe for success, which is exactly what Edward Scissorhands is.
Now, the movie aside, I have a bit of a beef with this DVD and I am a bit confused. The film was released in 1990 (15 years ago). This DVD is labeled as a "10th Anniversary Edition". Why would a 10th Anniversary occur 15 years after the movie was released? On top of that, why would it have all the same features as the other 10th Anniversary Edition? I don't get it, are we now double-dipping with the same dip as before? Just take one dip and end it!
This DVD certainly holds a magical movie, but to use the idea of a collectible tin that won't fit on a standard DVD shelf along with a few lousy photos and call it an anniversary edition is just plain deceitful. If you don't own Edward Scissorhands yet, pick this up, otherwise save your money.
