"Dawson's Creek - The Complete Fifth Season" - DVD Review

Dawson's Creek - The Complete Fifth Season is a Sony Pictures Home Entertainment release and is rated .
When I last left the "Creek" I was left intrigued, now after watching the fifth season I only want to drown all the characters in it just so a sixth season will not be made.

The fourth season of "Dawson's Creek" ended with everyone going off to college, all except Pacey of course who decides to become a chef at the most upscale restaurant in town, makes sense. Dawson has finally gone off to fulfill his life long dream at USC's film school, while Joey, Jen and Jack all head to college in Boston together and begin to start their post-high school lives, which may not go exactly as you expect it may.

The first few seasons of this show were bearable and even interesting to me, but apparently the writing team for "Dawson's Creek" just couldn't carry over their talents into a fifth season and I am dreading a sixth, which I of course will review because I have to know what happened, even if it is horribly stupid.

There are enough things to piss you off during this season to hold you over for quite some time, however. This includes one of the worst storyline twists involving Dawson and his college career as well as the introduction of a new main cast member in Busy Philipps as she replaces one of the most annoying members of all-time, the now abroad Andrea 'Andie' McPhee, but newer is not always better, well maybe just a little.

Philipps has about as much charisma as a paper bag and to hear her talk is to listen to nails being scratched down a chalkboard, but she still remains better than the McPhee character, so who am I to complain?

Other than the 23 season five episodes this set comes equipped with zero special features, so I guess Sony Home Entertainment had just as much confidence in this season as I have.

For you "Creek" fans I don't need to say much as you are going to buy this no matter what I say, but for those of you that are living the show through DVD you may be best off to skip this season and check back for a review on the sixth as this one is the worst yet.
