It was only a month ago that I was saying "CSI" had been replaced by "Without a Trace" as my favorite crime drama on television. Now I have had the pleasure of watching the entire fourth season of the series I am not too sure if my statement holds up.

The first half of the fourth season of "CSI" was pretty much when my primetime TV days ended, about half of this season I recognized and the other half was all brand new to me. I had been a religious watcher of the show until my free time became so scarce that I did not have the chance to catch it, but it is just as obvious as it ever was why this is the most popular show on TV.

Packed with all 23 episodes from the fourth season this set doesn't mess around as it only has one featurette that is broken out into four parts along with audio commentaries on 7 of the episodes.

This was my first time reviewing a season of "CSI" on DVD and I had to go back to take a look at see if special features had ever been a big part of the season sets, and it does appear that this one is a little light on the features, but who is really buying this thing for deleted scenes or cast and crew featurettes?

"CSI" has by far, some of the most talented writers in all of television. Being able to come up with this many different scenarios and make them credible and interesting is almost an impossible feat, but not only do the do it every single episode, they do it two and three times an episode.

The best way to check out how they do this, if you ever wondered as I did, is the one featurette as it goes from the script development phase up to post-production on the episode titled "Suckers," which I am sure you fanatics remember as the vampire episode... yet, still credible.

The only real downfall this set has is the price tag, at $63 at Amazon.com and around $70+ in stores it is quite a steep price considering you can buy an equally good show in "Without a Trace" for only $45. I have never been quite sure why the price is so high, but I am sure the ratings have something to do with it.

Nonetheless, if you have the cash don't waste your time thinking it over, rush out and buy this one. Otherwise I am sure it would make a great Christmas gift.
