"Coupling - The Complete Third Season" - DVD Review

Coupling - The Complete Third Season is a Warner Home Video release and is rated .
Well, the synopsis pretty much tells it all about this British version of "Friends" with edge as the Brits are willing to put on air what we here in America consider "indecent". Funny how their comedies seem to be doing so well over here on DVD since we don't want to be exposed to the grotesqueries of words such as "blow job" and "shit" but whatever it is there is something about the "Coupling" as there was about "The Office" that keeps you interested, especially the fact that they aren't so watered down and family friendly.

While "Coupling" isn't as good as "The Office" it does have in unmistakable charm about it in a world just like the one found at Central Perk where a group of six friends that have the easiest time of finding a way to wedge sex into their everyday life and the intriguing adventure that is relationships.

Whether it is trying to keep from being recognized on *69, or 1471 as it is referred to in England, or having your friends on your cell phone while you are out on a date with a woman. "Coupling" is a world where friends actually go out for drinks at a bar rather than only at a coffee shop and women get handcuffed to a bed just before the key is lost and the ex-boyfriend comes knocking on the door.

"Coupling" sets out to prove that being single isn't easy and proves at the same time having a relationship is just as difficult.

Along with season three's seven episodes you are also going to be treated with a group of outtakes, cast bios, a photo gallery and commentary on five of the seven episodes, but don't get too excited the episodes are the special features here.

The actual special features are not all that special at all. I have said it before and I'll say it again, commentary on TV shows is most often times useless. Although the commentary on these episodes is a bit more lively than some of those I have heard but five of them is just overkill.

The other features are just as lackluster as the outtakes aren't that funny, I am bored by photo galleries and cast bios can be read on the Internet, just click the website link above, but don't let these features deter you from checking out this set.

If you are a fan of mainstream American sitcoms you must at least offer yourself the chance to check this show out. If you are saying that you won't like it because you don't like British humor that is a worthy excuse, but I don't like it much either and just as "The Office" won me over this one did to, and if you give it a chance I think you will have a change of heart as well.
