Domestic Box-Office Total
Catwoman is a Warner Home Video release and is rated
PG-13.
The running time is 1 hr. 44 mins..
I did it, I have finally seen the movie being most often referred to as the worst movie of 2004, but I have to tell you
Catwoman does not entirely live up to the hype.
Starring Oscar-winner Halle Berry in her first post-Oscar role
Catwoman is a retelling of the popular comic of a woman who dies and is reborn with cat-like powers, not to mention basketball skills, whip lashing skills and a tendency to both bad and good behavior.
As Halle Berry unleashes her part in this pic as Patience Philips audiences are duly treated to bouts of insanity, absurdity and every so often a bit of cat nip.
Catwoman's story is weak, some of these scenes should have never seen their way into the film and director Pitof's unexplained obsession with wide sweeping shots of a CGI landscape become quickly redundant as you begin to feel like you are watching the short vignettes in between a $10 video game rather than a major motion picture.
Nevertheless, this film is not as bad as some critics have boasted as there are several films out there, did anyone see
Envy?
The DVD also sets out to prove that this film isn't entirely worthless with a way too long featurette on the history of Catwoman in film and TV, a short behind-the-scenes feature, additional scenes and an alternate ending that would have actually resulted in one less CGI shot needed for the movie.
I would never in a million years tell you to go out and buy this film, but as a rental you could certainly do worse, but then again you could always do better.
