"Cabin Fever" - DVD Review

Cabin Fever is a Lionsgate Home Entertainment release and is rated R.

The running time is 1 hr. 42 mins.

I can't change my opinion on Cabin Fever whatsoever. This is a movie filled with just about every horror film cliché known to man and it is hard for me to get passed them.

I think I will have the doubters that will say, "What horror movie isn't cliché? Did you not see Freddy vs. Jason?"

To answer that is easy. Yes! The difference between a movie like Freddy vs. Jason is that movies like that know what they are about, while Cabin Fever is a genuine approach at a seriously scary horror film, but what more can I say? We aren't here to talk about the movie directly as we are here to talk about the DVD.

Since I didn't like the movie I wasn't as interested in the special features as much as someone who did like the movie, but I can say that they are quite unique, but not necessarily useful.

When I mention useful I am talking specifically about "Chick Vision." This is a feature that blocks out the "scary" portions of the flick where a "chick" would cover her eyes since they don't want to be scared or see something too gross. The only problem is, "Who would watch this?" It is pretty much a big waste of time, just as is the "Family Friendly Version."

The "Family Friendly Version" shows just the kids heading out to the cabin and then "The End." It lasts a couple minutes and then no more, another waste of time.

Other features include Eli Roth's short "The Rotten Fruit," "The Making of Cabin Fever" and "Pancakes!" All these features are pretty much useless to someone who hated this film, but enthusiasts may enjoy the "Making-of" featurette just for its contents.

I think it is quite obvious from this review I can't recommend this DVD to anyone. The movie isn't scary and overall the special features are just a one-time view and a waste of time.
