Broken Lizard's Club Dread is a Fox Home Entertainment release and is rated
R.
The running time is 1 hr. 44 mins..
For me to give you my opinion on
Club Dread would probably be the largest waste of my time and yours as you can get my opinion right
here from my theatrical review, but with the
Club Dread DVD what is more important is whether or not Broken Lizard fans are going to find what they are looking for with this title, since I don't think anyone else will be giving it a second glance.
As a group of partiers head out to Paradise Island their vacation is soon interrupted by a machete wielding killer bent on leaving no one alive.
Club Dread comes from the creators of the horribly stupid film
Super Troopers, which has amassed a cult following of its own and
Club Dread is surely going to become just another part of their collection, unfortunately it doesn't offer anything all that special for Lizard fans.
Along with the movie the only special features are two audio commentaries one with the director Jay Chandrasekhar and the other with the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, both of which are similar in style, and for me, both are trying too hard to be funny. The two commentaries are so similar in style and content that they really should have been turned into one, since it is a little difficult having to watch the film a second time, let alone a third.
The Broken Lizard comedy team has become the target of a group of comedy cult gurus, whom I am sure will enjoy hearing their favs talk about the film, but for others it just won't tickle their funny bone.
I do think
Club Dread may be a good rental for many and a good buy for Broken Lizard fans, but beyond that I don't think there is enough here for multiple viewings if you happened to add it to your collection.
