I have heard people say that repeat viewings will get me to like it more, and they insist it is simply the way the characters interact that makes it so special. While the interaction is great, I can't see myself ever falling in love with this film. Maybe I am missing something.
This collector's edition comes in two forms. The first one being the copy I reviewed (a.k.a. The Not So Collectible Edition) or the Achiever's Edition, which gives fans of the film a bit more to enjoy including a Big Lebowski Bowling Shammy Towel, 4 Collectible Coasters and 8 Exclusive Photo Cards from Jeff Bridges' personal collection, which are also previewed in a special feature on both versions.
What these new DVDs don't have is anything special on the disc itself. You get an old featurette, a look at Jeff Bridges' personal photo collection, trailers and that's it... Bupkiss. Oh yeah, that is unless you consider a short introduction by Mortimer Young special. I don't.
The Big Lebowski is an a'ight movie. John Turturro is amazing in it, Bridges is Bridges, Goodman is his usual giant self and Steve Buscemi gives another great performance, but that can only make up for so much in a story that really doesn't go very far.
Overall this DVD is far from special and if you already own this film on DVD, skip it, unless the Achiever's Edition tickles your fancy. The edition I reviewed offers nothing additional to make your panties wet, it simply is another excuse to toss out a less-than-stellar special edition. Something we can all do without.
