Entertainment Weekly is reporting exclusively that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to star opposite Zach Galifianakis in Todd Phillips' follow-up to The Hangover for Warner Bros. called Due Date.

The film centers on an expectant dad (Downey Jr.) and his unlikely travel companion (Galifianakis) race cross-country in hopes of making it home for the birth of his first child. EW's Nicole Sperling adds, "Think Planes, Trains and Automobiles with Downey in the straight-man Steve Martin role."

Due Date was written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, with a revision by Adam Sztykiel and a release date of June 4, 2010 has already been slotted.

The film will be the go-between for Phillips who is expected to direct The Hangover 2 for a May 27, 2011. Certainly it appears Todd Phillips is on a role and landing Downey in his next film ups the expectation that much more.

So let me get this straight: It's a road trip buddy comedy by Todd Phillips starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis?

I think I'm gonna track down Phillips and just hand him my ten dollars now.

I'm only commenting on this because it's raining outside and I'm bored. I don't like Comedies because I rarely find them funny. I didn't think the Hangover was all that it started off okay, but then got kind of goofy towards the end. I didn't laugh out loud once. So not really looking forward to the Hangover part 2. I normally like RDJ, but not looking forward to this because as I said I don't really like Comedies.

    Some Comedies I did like

    Office Space
    The Original Friday
    Pineapple Express
    Mean Girls
    Some Like It Hot
I guess Legally Blonde and The Devil Wears Prada are comedies, I liked them a lot but didn't really laugh a lot.

I don't know about this film

That's gonna be the highest grossing movie of next year

This sounds great since I am a huge Downey Jr. fan.

I believe you meant to say that Phillips is "on a roll" rather than "on a role." It is a pretty common mistake.
