Doug Jones Talks 'Hellboy 2' and 'Silver Surfer'
Rumors and script talk
Recently speaking with Alfonso Cuaron he told me Guillermo del Toro refered to his script for Hellboy: The Golden Army was his most personal story and in an interview with IF Magazine Doug Jones who played Abe Sapien in the first Hellboy and the Silver Surfer in the upcoming Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer seems to feel the same way saying, "I loved, LOVED, reading the script."
While Jones played the part of Abe in the first pic it was David Hyde Pierce that voiced the character, in the sequel del Toro has already said that won't be the case as Jones will finally be heard and he seems pumped:
You can expect more from Abe Sapien, you can expect a larger role from the first one, you can expect him to maybe wield a weapon, you can expect him to show you a style of fighting in hands on with bad guys that you've never seen or heard of before… You can expect more buddy scenes with Hellboy, and you can expect more screen time and getting to know him."
Jones also leaked a small bit of news on the Fantastic Four film when asked about Galactus and whether the character will be involved in the film.
For those like me that have no clue who Galactus is, was, or will be, I did a little research and found out he is called the Devourer of Worlds or Ravager of Planets, which means the obvious. Where the Silver Surfer comes in is that he is one of Galactus' heralds and to be a Herald of Galactus means you seek out new worlds for Galactus to consume.
The big question is whether or not the planet-eater will play a part in the upcoming film and the question has been skirted, but Jones isn't exactly saying no when he says, "What about Galactus? Again, no one has briefed me on what I can and can't say, but I'm going to play it safe and say that it would be difficult to introduce the Silver Surfer without Galactus having some kind of presence in the film."
Without saying yes it sounds like he pretty much said it.
