Things will begin picking up again next week on the DVD and Blu-ray front, but for this week it's pretty much only Joseph Gordon-Levitt
's feature directorial debut Don Jon
, a decent little comedy that should play a little better at home than it did in theaters. The biggest issue it faces, as I wrote about in my review
out of Toronto, are the "redundancies and narrative leaps" it employs making the comedy somewhat tiresome and the sudden shift to drama a little jarring. Yet, I enjoyed it, these are just quibbles as it is also clear Levitt has some talent and the film alone is worth watching for Brie Larson
and Tony Danza
. Give it a look.
