Domestic Trailer for von Trier's 'Antichrist'

On October 23 you can decide for yourself

Well, the proposed Australian poster caused quite a stir when I posted it earlier this week and so I can't help but wonder if the conversation will spill over to this post as the domestic trailer for Lars von Trier's controversial upcoming feature Antichrist has debuted at Apple prior to its October 23 release by IFC Films.

The film is being classified as a foreign horror, but I wonder if those that have seen it would agree as it appears to be much more than that. Starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg, the film centers on a grieving couple who retreat to 'Eden', their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse.

Check out the trailer directly below or at Apple in high definition. I also have 18 stills from the film in our gallery right here.

  1. I'm freaked out watching this trailer at home. I know I'm going to die in the theater, but I still can't wait! I guess that's the sign of an intriguing (to put it lightly) film.

@Danny: Agreed 100 percent. I want to see it, but I don't think I can handle it.

I assume that's the redband trailer. Why would there even be a greenband trailer? That really would be utterly pointless. Imagine seeing an Antichrist trailer before Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

On second thought, I'm going to watch this. I might be disturbed for the rest of my life, go into shock, or vomit more than Gary in Team America, but I'm going to watch it.

  4. Joel

Watched this for the first time with the volume down and must say, this movie may well be the scariest, mental destruction film any of us may ever see. My interest is very high

  5. @Matt: Definitely. It's just something I want to experience.

  6. Josh

Mmm didn't scare me more so caught my interest. They seem to keep what is real scary hush hush. Leaves us to guess

I saw the film. Not scary at all. But yes, a bit shocking. Well, more than a bit.

  8. AJ

looks not that scary or shocking just a relationship on the edge and a getaway that comes to lost of trust and beginning of hell the lady goes cukoo thats all

PLEASE let this fucking be released in a theater near me!! God fucking damn, I want to watch this film so badly!!

    @JM: Fucking fuck yeah! :\

And yes, I really want to see this. I have to experience it.

F**k this movie is cool. Just watched (I live in Brazil), and it is better than i thought (I would give 7/10). The visual is amazing. It is slow paced, very "artistic like" and intense.
I did not get shocked with any piece of footage (maybe because of that "catholic cut" thing, not really sure) but is very well acted and the story is really good.
Watching this movie is like watching the worst nightmare of someone. At least I got this feeling.
