Disney's 'A Christmas Carol' Has a Poster
I'm hoping this one delivers
Walt Disney Pictures just sent over the poster for Disney's upcoming Robert Zemeckis-directed A Christmas Carol, which will be animated in the familiar fashion we have seen in The Polar Express and Beowulf.
The film is an all-new adaptation of the classic Dickens tale and will be shown in 3-D with Jim Carrey starring as Ebenezer Scrooge. Joining Carrey is Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins, Robin Wright Penn and Cary Elwes.
I am really hoping this film impresses. I have always loved this story and beyond anything shown in the feature film realm has been Disney's version starring Mickey Mouse, which I have included the first part of in this post. You can get a larger look at the poster in our gallery for the film right here.
Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol is set to hit theaters on November 6, 2009.

You know what Brad? I hope this one delivers too.
I have my doubts; although I enjoyed it, "Beowulf" was all over the place, and the animation wasn't all that great outside of being in 3D. Jim Carrey doing the Jim Carrey shtick isn't exciting me very much (he's basically playing a mixture of "The Grinch" and Olaf from "A Series of Unfortunate Events" this time). And for my money, the best adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" was when the Muppets did it way back when. (Just Kidding- I enjoy that film- point is, we need another "Carol" update like we need another Mall Cop movie).
But I have faith as well. This could work. Hopefully it will work.
Until now, I haven't seen anything of the Mickey Mouse version in about…20 years?? Give or take a few. I loved it as a kid. Really enjoy the Muppet version now. We'll see with the upcoming one.
This poster reminds me of another Jim Carrey movie…
This movie looks intersting. I think JC will come through on this one
I've been looking forward to this for a couple of years since rumors first emerged that Jim Carrey was going to play Scrooge. It is without doubt the greatest fictional story of all time. And I fully agree that no feature film has ever come close to doing justice to it. The Mickey Mouse version is a wonderful rendition and the Muppetts did a great job as well, but all other efforts have been immensely disappointing. Here's to hoping that finally Dickens' classic will get the big-screen treatment it deserves.
