Did 'Toy Story 3' Make You Cry? What Movies Did?
Pass the tissues please?
Prior to watching Toy Story 3 I was in a discussion with a couple of other folks and they were telling me how they cried during both Toy Story and Toy Story 2. So, as the events in Toy Story 3 played out certain scenes had me convinced this one would get to them to. This film was certainly designed to tug on the heart strings. Yet, I sat there, basking in the emotion, but I wasn't even trying to choke back a tear.
I don't necessarily cry at movies. Emotion wells up on occasion, but in preparation for this I was trying to think of any movies I actually had physical tears and not one came to mind. I don't say this because I think I'm a big ol' tough guy (though I probably try to be more than you'll ever get me to admit), but simply because I can't relate. I do remember watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with a lump in my throat for most of the movie. Precious was a tough one and so was I've Loved You So Long, but none of them caused me to shed a tear and looking back over the course of my life I can't think of a single movie that did. Unfortunately that makes my end of the story a little dull, but hopefully you will add some intrigue in the comments below.
So I ask you, did Toy Story 3 start your waterworks? What other films have caused you to cry or at the very least well up with emotion? What scenes specifically and was it the emotion of the story that got you or the film's relation to your personal life?

I don't usually cry during films, and Toy Story 3 was no exception- I was a bit let down. The closest I've come to downright crying was in This is England (the final scene), which got a couple tears out of me. Also, Mary and Max had me pretty choked up towards the ending.
finding neverland, and benjamin button. for some reason i sob in those. (a psychologist would probably read into it, both having to do with love, loss, and growing old…i can almost smell my midlife crisis coming one day).
To me , i felt as if i had been growing up with these toys almost my entire life. I was 5 years old when the first Toy Story came out. In a way i kinda had that feeling in my stomach as if i , myself, was giving away the toys to another child to take them. The way they made it all play out surely jerked around with my emotions
me to i sobbed when andy left and before they went in the incinerator because it all was so relatable i remember giving away me toys and it still feels like part of me is gone
Yea when Andy was leaving and you see him snatch Woody back for that minute i was so close to crying. Although i have never came that close to crying in any other film. It is probably due to me growing up with Andy, Woody and Buzz.
It's seems to me like everyone has at least come close to crying at sophie's choice
Movies that Made me cry:
Schindler's List: The end with the ring and Liam Nessons performance in general was one the best ever.
Shawshank redemption: Rooftop scence got me teary eyed and the ending at me going…
Green Mile: The ending got me and Elder bro really sheding the waterworks…
Before Sunset: MY all time FAVORITE MOVIE (thanks to this site and Brad for introducing me to it) the scence in the car got me really upset and still does but not really crying.
Return of the King: 1st saw the "my friends you bow to no one" scence.
Kash I couldn't agree more! Return of The King was definitely sad. When Frodo told Sam at the end:
"I'm glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things."
I shed a tear, after those 3 incredible movies (and I read all of the Middle Earth books) it was good to see Peter Jackson did a good job with a great cast.
Yi Yi… the ending was so close to my life that i just lost it. Took me the entire credits to regain my composure.
Havent seen Toy Story 3 yet but im sure it will join Yi Yi for films that have made me cry. Toy Story was my first film so 3 has a lot of significance to me.
Yi Yi had such a great ending! I still think about it periodically. One of the best endings in recent memory.
thanks for agreeing! YI YI is just one of those films that is so underrated its tragic. It was the first movie I watched this summer and has instantly become one of my all time favorites.
Marley and Me when Jennifer Aniston is kissing the dog goodbye and says goodbye discount puppy. It was pretty intense.
I'm ridiculous when it comes to crying in movies. War films get me. Cried during Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan. The Passion of the Christ got me better than anything else. United 93 and World Trade Center both turned me into waterworks. The Patriot is another one. I could go on but I am starting to embarrass myself!
I LOVE THE DARK KNIGHT and yeah i cried at ts3 like a baby
Honestly, I did not even feel emotional at all at the end of Toy Story 3. I heard many other people in the audience choking back tears, but I just couldn't feel it. My lack of emotion toward Toy Story 3 surprised me because I did cry during both Up and WALL-E.
I guess I can't blame Pixar for being unable to penetrate my emotions because it seems to have worked on so many other people. I was just hoping it would work on me.
Bang the Drum Slowly with Robert Deniro and Brian's Song made me cry. I don't know why but sports movies usually make me cry more than others.
It's very rare that I actually start to cry during a movie, but the one movie that did make me cry was The Green Mile. I also got teary eyed at the end of Milk.
I haven't seen Toy Story 3 yet, so I will have to get back to you on that one. But…there are two movies that come to mind in the tear-jerking department, The Color Purple and Seven Pounds. Seven Pounds didn't just make me cry, it hurt me. The movie had ended, the credits finished and I was still crying. My husband asked me, "are you alright?"
"No",I said.
i am sam made me cry like a girl stood up on prom night.
also the larmie project made me cry from anger, sadness and joy
Toy Story 3 didn't make me cry, but definitely felt the emotinal punch. Movies that a couple tears have come out at are:
My Girl- "He can't see without his glasses!"
Good Will Hunting- When Matt Damon breaks down.
The bgeinning scene of Up almost got to me.
Puss
;)
The End Of Mr. Hollands opus- Not A dry eye
The Finale of M*A*S*H on tv, although not a film, when Hawkeye and BJ saluted Col. Potter and he rode of into the sunset on Sophie… That did it for me
Any movie where a dog is beat or even yelled at is one that gets me. My Dog Skip, Air Bud, the 5 minute period in "UP" when Dug is told to go away. I tear up like a schoolgirl. I've never seen old yeller and I feel this is for the best. I get the feeling I would be crying loudly and obnoxiously like halfway through, just knowing what was coming.
1. Dead Man Walking
2. The Boys Are Back (saddest movie ever)
3. Up
those are the only ones.
UP
I dont know any one who didn't get even a little emotional during the first 10 minutes.
I criedd during Where The Wild Things Are. That movie just got me.
Marley and Me and Up.
I haven't cried during a movie, but I've come close with:
Up in the Air-that ending was so perfectly pessimistic and somber.
(500) Days of Summer-"This is NOT a love story."
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button-the whole movie was tuned to 'tearjerker' mode.
Life is Beautiful-this explains itself.
Juno-all of the characters played a part in making this a comedic yet very emotional movie.
A Beautiful Mind-Russell Crowe was enough to move me the most.
Crazy Heart-the scene in the mall when the child is missing and when the reporter leaves Bad struck me reasonably heavily.
American History X – was in hysterics
Milk – Final scene with the candles
Up – The beginning
i cried during toy story 3. i cried 6 times during UP, my record. I cried for an hour after seeing remember me. i also cried during we are marshall, new moon, twilight, dear john, the notebook, star trek, mona lisa smile, harry potter 4, spiderman 3. i cry during evrything apparently
I wonder why people would possibly say that?
I rarely cry in movies. The only two movies that made me cry were "Edward Scissorhands" and "E.T". Funny how both movies start with E and make me cry. I was close to crying on "Remember Me" but my shock and disbelief outweighed my heartbreak.
I rarely cry at movies, but Toy Story 3 has gotten me weepy twice now. Other movies that can accomplish that are Brokeback Mountain, Black Hawk Down, and All Quiet on the Western Front (the original, not the made-for-TV version).
I cried in The Time Traveler's Wife, but my girlfriend of 5 years and I broke up some days before… so it led to that.
I've come close to crying twice:
King Kong – Just before Kong dies he looks at Anne with this expression that just says "I am so, so sorry," and then eyes glaze over….
Return of the King – When Aragorn says "For Frodo."
Hotel Rwanda
Where the Wild Things Are
I bawled at the end of this movie. I tried so hard not to, but it was useless to fight it.
I cry very easily at movies…Up, Cinema Paradiso (best ending to a movie EVER!), LOTR: Return of the King (when Frodo and Bilbo get on the ship at the end), Schindler's List, My Dog Skip (any movie where an animal dies *sob*), Finding Nemo, Toy Story 2 (during the song about Jessie), Glory, and many many more. I even cried at Ice Age. I'm just a big weenie, I guess.
So far only two movies have made me cry: Toy Story 3 and (the Lifetime movie, I'M NOT ASHAMED OF IT) Prayers for Bobby.
Toy Story 3: the scene when the mom tears up at seeing Andy's emptied room as he is about to go to college really got to me because I'm 18 and am about to head off to college myself.
Prayers for Bobby: a story of a gay teen whose hyper-religious mother inadvertently drives him to suicide…yeah only a soulless automaton wouldn't cry during this movie.
the only movie ive ever cried during was in jerry maguire when rod tidwell gets his contract ahaha
"you are my ambassador of qwan man!"
Million Dollar Baby, and Terms of Endearment get me every time.
I showed "Nankyoku Monogatari" (aka "Antarctica", the 1983 film from Japan relating the true story of dogs inadvertently left behind to die in the winter) to a class of students in China and their emotional reaction to it caused me in turn to start blubbering my eyes out. The thing is that I'd already seen it on TV years ago without any reaction – so it shows the difference of seeing something on a big screen, especially with a sympathetic audience.
P.S. the original has nothing to do with the ridiculous Disney remake which provided action scenes, a hero and his girlfriend, and a happy ending.
- Wall-E ending when he lost his memory.
- Up, first 10 minutes and when Carl remembering Elli by her photo album.
- Click, when adam sandler hospitalized for the last time and chasing his son only to tell "Family comes first"
- Passion of the Christ, torture scene and when He is about to be crucified.
- An old taiwanese film called "My beloved", the whole film made me cry.
I think that's all, some other film really touched me but it didn't make me cry (Including Toy Story 3)

I do tend to cry. I go into a movie wanting to be moved and usually let my self get carried away. That being said, I'm a sucker for father son reconciliation movies so I bawl like crazy every time I see Field of Dreams and also, Big Fish. Of course, Up brought me to tears in the beginning, and the part with My Greatest Adventure book. Oh, and of course, Toy Story 3. Really hits home as I get older where the idea of getting old and living beyond your usefulness is creeping into my head. Fitting conclusion and beautifully told.
I think you are the first person that has brought up Big Fish. That film will forever be ingrained in my head as being the only movie I have ever seen my father cry while watching. I admit, I was choked up too but what really got me was seeing my dad sitting next to me having such an emotional response. It was a moment in my life that I will never forget.
i usually dont cry during movies but one that really got to me was Click, i dont want to spoil it for anyone that hasnt seen it but the parts in the future involving adam sandlers character and his dad, and the scene around the end with him chasing his family in the parking lot, those scenes really got to me.
I got teary eyed at the end of Toy Story 3 and the beginning of Up, but what honestly got me the worst was Finding Nemo, when Marlin thinks he's lost his son forever and begins leaving Dory when she begs him not to leave her, saying that around him she's home. Always hits me, without fail.
Other films that got me crying: Big Fish, Million Dollar Baby, The Shawshank Redemption (particularly Brooks' story), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button got to me many times throughout the movie, and I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
Oh my God, tons of movies make me cry! But two more so than any other:
1) Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father. This documentary, made in 2008 and dumped into 1 theater in October and completely overlooked, now has the task to build its audience on DVD. Not many people have watched it, but everyone who has CAN'T FORGET IT. It is so. fucking. sad. It will tear you apart. Brad, if you have never cried during a movie, I'd suggest giving this one a go and see if it manages to do it. Even if you still don't cry, you will love it. It is 100% true, and yet it has more twists than a Hollywood murder thriller. Its premise is that the documentarist's childhood friend, Andrew Bagby, was murdered by his girlfriend, but before she can be arrested, she runs off to Canada (where she's originally from), and there, she announces she is pregnant with Andrew's child. So Andrew's parents move to Canada and have to deal with the crazy girlfriend and the justice system in order to spend time with Zachary, the little baby that will be the only grandson they'll ever have.
2) A.I. Artificial Intelligence. This one makes me cry every time I watch it. Oh my God, it's such a heartbreaker! Especially at the end. Haley Joel Osmont acts so well it's scary. It's a real shame that this was his last major film (at least, the last that was worth any attention).
There's tons of others–too many to name, so I'll leave you guys with those two and bow out.
The biggest tearjerker for me was The Green Mile, no question. Three different parts got to me, but the climax was obviously the worst. The end of Return of the King also got me a little wet in the eyes. Toy Story 3 almost had me, but then again I was just about killing myself to hold back tears. I have a feeling that Life is Beautiful would have done it for me if I weren't in a high school Humanities classroom full of cute girls who would never let me live it down if I released the waterworks.. otherwise that one as well.
And I feel like I should mention.. the most I've cried over something not in real life EVER.. Jurassic Bark, anyone?
The end of Hachiko had me bawling.
There are only a few films that truelly make me cry, and the most powerful one is Cinema Paradiso – the ending of that is emotionally intense.
Others which make me emotional to lesser extents:
- Up – the first 10mins
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- Million Dollar Baby
I forgot to mention Umberto D – incredibly moving Italian film
How has no one said The Sixth Sense yet?
That scene at the end with Cole and his mom is one of the biggest reasons that movie works so well.
The ending of Shawshank
The "You bow for no one" scene in Return of the King
The scene where Rory Culkin almost dies in Signs
When Ken kills himself in In Bruges while "Raglan Road" is playing
The beginning of Up
and yes, the ending of Toy Story 3 did get me a little teary eyed, but nothing like the ending of The Sixth Sense.
I must be one of the few that hated everything after the Tilda Swinton part of Benjamin Button. I was laughing at the terrible writing.
Absolutely it did. The incinerator scene and the final moments. Other examples would be:
LOTR: Return to the King. The whole ending, "But I can carry you!" scene, Gandalf telling Pippin about afterlife, and the charge of Rohirrim. Incredible film.
Big Fish – the final scene. I don't think I will ever be able to hold my tears back in that scene. Burton's Masterpiece.
Forrest Gump – Forrest reading the letter near the tree, and the final scene. Beautiful.
The final scenes of Shawshank, Schindler's List and King Kong 05.
Benjamin Button throughout.
I almost cried at the end of The Dark Knight, with the speech of Gary Oldman and the words "A silent guardian. A watchful Protector. A Dark Knight".
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Up (Is there anyone who didn't cry during the "Married Life" sequence?)
Precious
Toy Story 3
Cinema Paradiso
Where the Wild Things Are
I get that lump in my throat often during a movie, but the film that brought the tears was Meet Joe Black — near the end when its Anthony Hopkins last day.
The Hours…when Julianne Moore meets Meryl Streep after her son commits suicide.
Marley and Me-Gets me every time.
Thats the only movie i've ever cried at. These r the movies where i got kinda emotional though.
United 93-The part when they were calling their families and the ending had me speechless.
Schindler's List-The ghetto scene was very intense. Also had me speechless. Filled me with for those who died.
Shutter Island-Teddy had a hard life. Its funny cause my name is Teddy also. But the end at the lake was not easy to watch.
Harry Potter 6-Dumbledore's death anyone?
For Shutter Island, the ending of the book was even harder to read.
I didn't cry in Toy Story 3 simply because I stopped myself. I think watching it alone, I would have let it out.
I don't cry in movies in general, but man this is the first in a long time where just thinking about those last 25 minutes starts getting me sad.
I thought the marriage scene in Up was sad, but this was really hard to see. One of Pixar's finest masterpieces.
I agree – if I had been at home, on my own, I'd still be crying now. The first part was when they all hold hands before the incinerator. Then obviously the ending :(
Seen a good few comments about Up and how upsetting it is – I have yet to see it, and I'm curious now!
Oh, forgot to mention Lion King. Mufassa's death is so sad for me, probably cuz I'm really close with my own Dad.
I didnt think an animated Lion could ever get me to that point.
Finding Neverland, A.I. and The Sea Inside (never cried harder in a movie)
I cried at the end of Lost.
I've become teary in:
In the Bedroom
Moon
Up
Flags of our fathers-hit close to home because of me losing my father and the ending brought back the emotions.
Friday Night Lights- the scene where boobie miles is crying in his uncles arms in the car showing how a guy on top of the world turns up to lose everything yet his only family is there to embrace him and help him not feel alone. powerful scene in my eyes.
Brad i think alot of times people cry in movies out of relation and one day there will be an event in a film that you relate to very much so that might cause a tear or two
I will admit to being a bit of a wimp reduced to a teary mess with certain films (The ending of 'The Iron Giant – 'Suuuuupermaaan', ending of Monsters Inc., Say Anything, E.T., Brokeback Mountain, My Dog Skip, Wall-E, The Road, Where the Wild Things Are, Million Dollar Baby and the ending of Shawshank come to mind though there are many others…) and I have been warned about Toy Story 3 but still have yet to see it.
I just watched Iron Giant for the first time in years and that part killed me.
I don't cry very often on seeing movies and I don't think I've ever cried in the cinema. Memorable tear jerkers for me have been:
Ring of Bright Water – still can't re-watch this
The last 10 mins of The Lives of Others
The end of Into the Wild, even though I knew it was coming
When I saw E.T. in the theather I remember hearing a sob and it was one of the employees, after the ending of sex in the city 2 because I just blew away 12 dollars.
Letter's From Iwo Jima- Where my grandfather was a marine and always telling me about how bad the Japs were, this movie humanized the people that I had heard so many terrible things about. I found Ken Watanabe's character to be noble and antiheroic and the sad part about most of the japanese soldiers was that there was no hope of ever going home. The kinds of events where people make the ultimate sacrifice make me teary.
Also, Artificial Intelligence made me cry like I have never cried before. Even if it was long and a bit over done, it reminded me how much I love my parents, and how important to me they were, and what in the world I would do if I ever lost them. It made me go and hug my mother and father like never before.
Eternal Sunshine and Stand By Me, among many others.
The Passion of the Christ had two scenes that had an emotional impact on me.
The first scene is where we Jesus falling with the cross a second time, and His mother sees Him from down the street, and there is a quick flashback to when He was a little kid, and He falls and she is there to catch Him. Then we see years later where He is suffering, and there is nothing she can do for Him..
The second scene is where Jesus is in the middle of being crucified and there is another flashback to Him giving His famous sermon where He says to love your enemies. Then it returns to the crucifixion and the romans dislocate His arm and He shouts out "Forgive them Father, they know not what they do."
I don't know if anyone has seen the film Gallipoli with Mel Gibson but it is heartbreaking at the end.
I don't recall ever sobbing out loud, but I tear up rather easily and frequently. Thinking about it, it's usually when one character is giving their life for the person they love. One title no one has mentioned is "The Abyss."
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
Even with all the problems that film has with its alien stoyline, that 10-minute sequence with Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (right after Michael Biehn dies) gets me every time.
Just getting out of a screening of Toy Story 3, I can say I was wiping away a couple of tears. I think only Big Fish, Saving Private Ryan and Up have made me teary. Schindlers List however made me full on baww.
Grave of the Fireflies
The most heartbreaking film I have ever seen. Took me 2 weeks to recover.
I cry in EVERYTHING. Movies that address the issue of growing older make me feel like I have lost something. Anything that has children dying, sick, turning zombie, or being abused are the worse. Movies about the death of loved ones. Steel Magnolias kills me. I also think the musical score has a lot to do with envoking the tears…but hey, when I was little I cried in the Tom Hanks movie Big when he went back to being a kid, so I dont have much credability here. Sadest Disney Movie: DUMBO: When Mrs. Dumbo is locked away and Dumbo comes to visit her and she rocks him in her trunk and the song Baby Mine plays. Thats the song I sing to my son. The song alone makes me cry.
AMEN AMEN AMEN I love/hate that baby of mine song every time i hear it i think about my mom and start crying hysterically (and i'm only 11 years old!) i cried at 3 parts in TS3 when they sing you've got a friend in me after the train scene part because that is my dad and my song and also because andy is growing up. the other parts i cried at were when the were in the incinerator (the fire part) because they dragged it out for like 8 min.'s!!! and i cried at the part when andy plays withh bonnie at the end and when woody says "so long partner' SOB SOB SOB! AND BY THE WAY SKYLER!!! YOU MAKE KIDS SOUND LIKE LITTLE IDIOTS LIKE THEY DON'T GET ANYTHING WEL I LIKE THE DARK KNIGHT, INDEPENDENCE DAY, INDIANA JONES, V, AND THE MATRIX!!! I also cried during up
I cry in almost anything…so my list would be kind of irrelevant..but I will say the movie that surprised me the most (in terms of tears shed) was Marley and Me.. and not because of my tears, but because of everyone elses.. It was incredible.. I could barely hear the movie because of the collective sobs..
My list would consist of Armageddon and A Time to Kill because no matter how many times I see them..and even though I know the dialogue by heart.. I still ball every single time..
Toy Story 3 did not make me cry… I found it definately over rated BIGTIME… It's a good film, a fun film… to say the best so far this year (some have said) is an overstatement.
I remember saying that with Pixar's UP it was really an adult cartoon… meaning it felt more like a story and a cartoon made for adults that they could bring their kids too.. and when I was their (with my 8 yr old nephew) he was one of 5 (only five) kids in the theater the rest were Adults and couples, Well went to see toy story on a Sunday afternoon,, wouldn't ya know it… About 20 kids and the rest were adult (men mainly).. so i think yes, it's fun for adults who remember some of those toys before video games for home were the big thing and that sells every adult a ticket right there… IT Will be interesting with CARS 2 next year (not pixar's best -the first one i mean) and watch when the advertising starts, it's mainly the adults who continuously "can't wait" for the pixar release… while I was at Toy story all the kids seemed more interested in the trailer for MegaMind… that's a kids cartoon just by looking at it's advertising and the kids reaction they're getting it right.. when TOy story 3 trailer was released My nephew didn't get it.. the dinosaur on the computer (funny for adults) but to put that in the trailer shows Pixar knows it's real audience "the parents" or the adults..
Completely agree, totally made for the kids that originally saw the first 2 movies – and grew up with them.
My niece watches disney now – and she doesn't enjoy them as much as I still do now! And that's because Disney was ALL I watched!
Oh.. .Movies that made me cry…
Oridnary People -
Dead Poets Society -
A Time to Kill -
The Other Side of the Mountain -
TS3 made me teary..oh hell, Cry. Awesome movie. It most definitely deserves all the raves and praises it is getting.
Toy Story 3 made me cry for 20 minutes straight D:
A few more movies that had an emotional impact on me:
City Lights – Charlie Chaplan nailed the ending of this silent movie. True brilliance.
The Mission – The tension between Robert DeNiro's character and Jeremy Irons' character truely come together at the end of the movie.
Schindler's List – The two scenes with the little girl with the red coat will effect anyone who sees them.
The Return of the King – The scene where Frodo sees Gandolf alive for the first time is one of the most powerful scenes in the entire trilogy.
..TS3 was an amazing movie. well i dont cry to most movies with sad or really happy endings because im not a very emotional person because i know its not real adn it doesnt effet me that way, but this one made me get teary-eyed and same with the movie Marley and Me. )':
simon birch and hardball get me every time
I cry in almost everything… I dont know why I think it's the air conditioning or something. A good advertisement can get me. Sad really
i am like bob i also cry at everything i cry sad tears and happy tears. havent seen toy story 3 let but i am sure i will be bawling in it when i do. some uf the movies i haved bawled in. the new karate kid movie. i am sam. marley and me any dog movie has me sobbing. life as a house, hardball. if a movie makes me cry it goes on my best list so there is way to many to put on this list. i am a guy not ashamed to let the tears flow
I cried during "Up" for certain. The scene in "Miracle" where the final player is cut from the team always chokes me up a bit, as well as the final scene but that's more just the history aspect. "It's a Wonderful Life" gets me every December, too.
I haven't seen toy story 3 yet, so i can't tell for that one… but one that comes to mind is the notebook, even my husband got all weepy, we both did also for the marriage scene in UP…
and my sister's keeper did it for me also, especially that scene when they are holding down the little girl in the hospital and she is crying out to her parents to help her.. OMG i was hysterical
"The Mighty" when Max runs to the building where he thinks (hopes) Kevin was supposed to get a new body, full of anger and grief.
THE PATRIOT – When the little girl cries out to her daddy. BRAVEHART – When he sees his dead wife in the crowd. AWAKENINGS – About every 15 minutes. ARMAGEDDON – When Willis shoves Affleck into the elevator. E.T. – "I'll be right here". BACKDRAFT – "Thats my brother!!!" CHILDREN OF MEN – They all stop fighting at the site of the baby.
Well, first of all, let me just say that Toy Story 3 was such a great movie. I grew up watching the first two films, and watching this one seriously brought back some strong nostalgia. Althought I did think the ending was sad, I didn't cry. But after I had dropped my friends off and I was driving back home alone, I was thinking about the movie and how much it meant to me (like I said, I grew up watching these movies in my childhood). And also, I too am leaving for college soon and I will have to leave and give up a lot of the things that I have grown up with. Thinking about this actually got me bit emotional and I started crying a little. This is kinda surprising because movies almost NEVER make me cry.
TS3 did make me cry! My boyfriend was laughing of me!!
Other movies that made me cry are Brother Bear, Bridge to Terabithia, Click, A Walk to Remember, My Sister's Keeper, The Last Song, Harry Potter 6, "El Estudiante", Slumdog Millionaire, Million Dollar Baby, and maaaany more :( haha
Yes, I cried at the end of Toy Story 3. I am a 24 year old dude, and man that movie got to me. Not tears of sadness but I guess you could say happy tears because it is just such an appropriate and uplifting ending. Other movies include:
The Bear – one of the first movies I can remember seeing as a kid with my Mom and when the mother bear gets killed I was sobbing
Old Yeller – man o man I was a wreck after seeing this as a kid
Big Fish – father/son moments throughout
The Patriot – a couple parts, Ledger and the little girl mixed with Gibsons reactions
E.T. – tears of sadness, and tears of joy
Dominic and Eugene – if you haven't seen this, GO OUT of YOUR WAY to FIND IT, Tom Hulce (Amadeus) amazing performance and Ray Liotta best performance from him I have ever seen. Made me cry on several occasions, check it out!
There are others but in The Lion King, the build-up and music when Mufasa dies gets me every time
sorry I forgot to mention but "The Land Before Time" is another big one for me as well
Honestly, the only movies that have ever made me cry were Pixar movies. I've cried during Toy Story 1, 2 and 3, Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, and probably others that I can't think of. I've probably seen Monster's Inc. about 50 times, but it never fails to make me weep.
Awakenings with Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams.
Usually animated movies dont get to me( not even up) butToy story 3 made me cry like a baby. The end was such a punch it had me crying for 15 minutes straight. It was IT for me. I saw it with my little brother and he even got worried because he had never seen me that way in a movie.
I also cried in Click, and Mouling Rouge ( i cry every single time i see it – whe she dies i just turn on waterfall mode).
Like a lot of people, Up, of course. Those two segments that describe his and his wifes life. I find it so strange that animated films can have that effect on people.
Then, the other one that got me was 'Blow' with Johnny Depp. The scene at the end where he's in prison and he imagines that his daughter has come to see him.
However, I feel that usually Toy story would have made me cry. However, with all the press that it would, it made me subconsciously choose not to. The expectation of it did make me think more about that than what was actually happening in the film at that point.
Definitely cried at the end of Toy Story 3. Tried so hard to hold it back because I brought my little cousins and knew I would never hear the end of it. :P
I've cried during a lot of movies.
Seven Pounds was just ridiculous.
I remember The Bucket List really getting to me.
The beginning of Up, obviously.
For some reason the part in Avatar where Jake is rallying forces and says "We will show the sky people that they cannot take whatever they want and that this, this is our land!" makes me all emotional whenever I see it.
That one part in Iron Giant.
I was holding back the tears so hard while watching Toy Story 3 (mostly at the end) because i was with my mates.
Sad films also leave me in a sort of depressed state afterards, i think i take them too seriously or something.
Others films to make me cry are Fox and the Hound, Toy story 1,2,, Iron Giant
Up did me in, and I was close with Toy Story 3… Hold it together man!! hold it together! ;)
Toy Story 3 really started my waterworks. I had heard about people crying at it, and thought I had made it out alive until Woody pulls out the post-it note. I knew I was in big trouble then. I had to really hold myself back, because the theater was so quiet during the scene where he is giving the toys to the new girl. But my wife, who was also crying noticed and, of course, told my 12 year old niece all about it afterwards. As a kid I always cried at the end of Charlotte's Web, when Wilbur is meeting the baby spiders. Those types of bittersweet endings get to me more than sad endings.
Same Here Man Same Here
I literally just got back from the cinemas – and wondered how other people would have responded to an animated film.
I've grown up adoring Toy Story – and to my luck, I met someone who shares my love for the film (although, I adore Disney in itself, and when I eventually have children, I will have them grow up with it too.)
I went with my best mate who is a guy. So I couldn't cry – but my throat hurt so bad from trying so hard not to cry. And now I feel so miserable. It's so misleading because you think that Andy will take them all with him – or when he's driving, he'll go to a really horrible place, and change his mind and keep them.
Although the feeling is nice to think – yeah, they've gone to a nice kid blah blah.. it's so hard to believe that it's the last we're ever going to see of our all-time favourite on-screen toys. It sounds pathetic to see adults being so emotional and passionate about an animated film – but I can't stress enough how much this ending really really got to me.
I never used to cry at films – apart from once when Titanic first came out on video, and I was about 8, at the end I ran to my bedroom and sobbed my heart out. First time I'd ever cried at a film.
Other films that really made me sob – Forrest Gump, bit with his mum dying;
The Notebook, when they curl up in bed together at the end and pass away in their sleep;
Curious Case of Benjamin Button; same effect with Toy Story 3 – made me feel miserable for hours, and I cried for a long time too.
My Sisters Keeper – I couldn't cry because EVERYONE was in my livingroom watching it, but I held back the tears to the point it hurt I was trying so much (again just like Toy Story)
Can't think of much else to say other than.. I'm gonna miss the Toy Story gang :( soooo much!!
I cried at Toy Story 3, yes. When Andy doesn't want to give Woody up, and when the toys are watching him drive away. Aside from that:
1. Titanic (The Re-uniting scene)
2. Shindler's List
3. Steel Magnolias
4. Up (1st 10 minutes)
5. Band of Brothers (The Bastogne episode just pulls at my hearstrings for some reason)
6. The Passion of the Christ (A LOT)
7. The Return of the King (when Frodo says goodbye @ the end)
8. Old Yeller
9. BAMBI!!!!
omg bambi i cry every time
I cried with TS3, because I remember watching the first and second movie and falling in love with the toys. Watching the movie, was a remembrance of my childhood, of my playtime, toys… Going back to being a child for a second like Andy at the end, that was TS3 for movie..
others movies I cried:
UP
Lion King
Benjamin Buttons
The Pianist
Schindler's List
The Passion
Sixth Sense
The Blind Side
Forrest Gump the very end…
I'm just a big cry baby….
has anyone else cried during "Pearl Harbor"??? i was SOBBING at the end!!! which is weird cause im pretty emotionless. but Danny dying and Rafe and Evelyn raising his son was just too much for me…
If you include laughing so hard, you'll make your eyes water then The Simpsons Movie and South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.
There are a lot more but 2 that stand out are The Lord of the Rings Return of the King when the older king is about to die in the field and he says "I go to my fathers, in whose mighty company I shall not feel ashamed." and when the new King says
"My friends you bow to no one." also the end of saving private ryan when hes looking at the graves.
Ever since i was a kid i have seen the toy story movies. I saw the first when i was 5 the second around 10 and now even as a fifteen year old i saw the third with my familly. When i saw this movie the ending even the begining made me cry. Not just the simple tear drop but the weird felling in your stomache. I still have my toy story stuff as a kid but this wasa true master piece any person that grew up with this movie would love to see.
I haven't cried at a movie since I was six, and even then, it was only once, which was when a cute animal died. Even growing up, I never even got misty-eyed at all the Disney movies where the parents died.
All these years later, I've seen movies that left the rest of my family in floods of tears – The Colour Purple, Platoon, Hair, Sophie's Choice, and the Joy Luck Club. Heck, I cry SO much about real life, and my older brother NEVER cries about anything, and he was hysterical at the Joy Luck club. While these touched me, they came nowhere near bringing tears to my eyes. No-one in my family cried at Up or Marley and Me, least of all yours truly.
Toy Story 3 – the first time I saw the last scene, I was able to watch the after-credits funny clips and then make up a lame excuse to my mom and best friend to go to the bathroom, where I silently sobbed. Every time after I saw it, I was reduced to full-out bawling. Just goes to show what can get to people.
i dont cry in movies, unless its really sad or hard to watch.
SEVEN POUNDS – when he is on the phone to ezra, OMFG made me want to punch will smith in the face. great acting though.
UP – after watching the start and then near the end when his house and all his memories of his wife get burned down made me cry.
MARLEY & ME – the end made me cry in the cinema in front of my friends, lukilly they were too lol. Saddest ending ive ever seen.
they are the only things that have made me cry
I remember crying while watching Legend of the Fall when the little brother his getting shot while Brad Pitt is trying to reach for him.
also, in Magnolia the scene with tom cruise and his father, when he finally admitts he dont want him to die.
Honest to God, I did not cry at all during Up (maybe because i'm not married? And sorry to those who asked if nobody cried on Up) but Toy Story 3 was something else. I cried in the theater and at home the second time I watched it. I think Toy Story 3 really got to me because I grew up watching Toy Story when I was a little kid. Other tear jerkers to me were Wall-E, Grand Torino, an The Titanic. Nothing else so far.
my memory is not so great with these things, so i'm sure i'm forgetting some. and yeah ts3 made me cry.
green mile
i am sam
forrest gump
brokeback mountain
i know the topic of movies, but nothing has ever made me bawl like a baby like the last 10 minutes of Six Feet Under did. i haven't watched it in years and i still think about it from time to time. it is, by far, the best ending I have ever seen. if you haven't watched the series, i suggest you give it a go.
I don't necessarily cry in movies, but during my first viewing of Toy Story 3, the two parts that made me almost cry were when the toys were about to be burned by the incinerator, and when they were given away to Bonnie.
"Taare Zameen Par" the hindi movie made everyone watched cry out loud!!!
"A walk to remember" did "The Last song" did…. :'(
