Depp Out of 'Legend' Union/Braga In?

Couple of bits on the upcoming thriller

UPDATE: I don't know what to believe, but BlackFilm seems confident Salli Richardson has been cast as Ginny, the wife of Will Smith's character, and that Alice Braga (niece of legendary Brazilian actress Sonia Braga) has been cast as Anna in I Am Legend. News is slow so here come the rumors and they begin over at IESB.net who dropped two little rumors centering on the upcoming feature film adaptation of I Am Legend based on the popular Richard Matheson novel.

First off there were rumors around that Johnny Depp was going to have a role in the film but IESB has a source on the set reporting this is indeed not true. However, they do claim that Gabrielle Union is joining the cast as Anna. This is contrary to BlackFilm.com, who originally reported Depp's involvement, as they say Alice Braga has signed for the role.

If Union was in this would reunite her with Will Smith who topline's the pic as Robert Neville, the last man on earth. A mysterious plague has swept the planet leaving in its wake this one survivor. But there is still life of a sort–vampires, the strengthless half-dead who press on Neville from every side and he is almost tempted to join them.

The Union/Braga character will serve as the lone female survivor whom Neville comes across in the movie. Union and Smith starred in Bad Boys II back in 2003. Braga and Smith have never been in a film together so I have no fun trivia there.

Stay tuned as I am sure this rumor madness will sort itself out soon. I Am Legend is directed by Francis Lawrence and is set for release on November 21, 2007.
