'Death Race' Meets Joan Allen's Potty Mouth
An R-rated trailer and a question of potential
I was told I was unprofessional by someone because I said Death Race looked awful based on the trailers. Unprofessional or not that was my opinion, but I think everyone around here knows what I say is not law. I cherish disagreement and I leave myself open for folks to disagree. Hell, I love to be proven wrong and pray I am proven wrong every time I see a film that I think is going to be awful. The last thing anyone wants to do is spend two miserable hours in a movie theater on a consistent basis. That is unless you are a sadist, to which I say best of luck with that.
So, back to Death Race, a film that originally looked dreadful based on its "giving away everything" tactic, but now that the red band trailer has come online I am thinking it is not so much a tactic as much as it is inconsequential. Guts, guns and glory seem to be the only name of this game and if that is the case I am more than willing to give it a shot. It also looks like Universal has the 2008 lockdown on A-list actors delivering some seriously great lines.
With Wanted earlier this year one of the best lines of 2008 was delivered at the very end of the film when Morgan Freeman as Sloan shouts, "Otherwise, shoot this motherf**ker and let us take our Fraternity of assassins to heights reserved only for the gods of men! You choose."
Now we get Joan Allen arriving with her own little potty mouth as she delivers a line I wish I had heard in theaters rather than in this trailer, but oh well. Wanna, know what she said? Give the trailer a watch below and based on the ads running all over the site I am sure you already know Death Race arrives on August 22 but I thought I would say it one more time.

Oh yeah? here's my opinion…Death Race looks awful based on the trailer!
The voiceover is cheesy and annoying as hell…'may the best man…live!'…wow that's bad!
Personaly im looking forward to Death Race, altho im not saying it is going to be a great movie, but I do think it will be pretty good as far as action movies go. Aside from the action it probaby will not achive much, but given the trailer it it seems action is basicaly all this movie sets out to accomplish, which is somthing I dont have a problem with.
