De Niro and Norton to Star in 'Stone'
Curran snatches up quality for his next feature
I still have not seen John Curran's The Painted Veil, but it sounds like his next film, a psychological thriller called Stone, will be far removed from the romantic drama. And to make things interesting, Curran has brought aboard his Painted Veil star Ed Norton and Robert De Niro for the film penned by Angus MacLachlan (Junebug).
Variety says the story centers on a correctional officer (De Niro) who is seduced by the wife of a convicted arsonist (Norton) up for parole.
The film won't be going in front of cameras anytime soon, however, as Curran's next film will be more along the lines of The Painted Veil as he will work with Keira Knightley on The Beautiful and the Damned, which concerns the turbulent marriage of alcoholic writer F. Scott Fitzgerald and his mercurial wife Zelda Sayre (Knightley), who was schizophrenic. The tempestuous relationship, which unfolded in the high society of the Roaring ’20s, inspired some of the novelist’s works.

sounds great…i am very intrested in the next movie though about F. Scott Fitzgerald. i have been waiting for a movie about him! love norton and de niro though! they were both in The Score together with a great ensemble cast…that movie could of been a hell of a lot better! maybe Stone will be!
Pardon me, but Keira Knightley as the lovely. free spirited but ultimately mentally unstable little runt, Zelda Fitzgerald? Sigh. I'm very, very tired of parts seemingly being cast based on the cache of the performer rather than the suitability. Anne Hathaway as Judy Garland. Matthew Fox as Steve McQueen. Now this.
