Bret Easton Ellis wrote the novels "Less than Zero," "The Rules of Attraction" and "American Psycho." As you know they were turned into films in 1987, 200 and 2002. Now, he has written a screenplay based on his novel "The Informers" which is set in 1980s Los Angeles and tells seven separate stories, follows a week in the lives of a group of morally challenged characters — a movie executive, his wife, his mistress, a rock star, a vampire and a kidnapper. Oh but wait, apparently that last bit about the vampires has been removed according to an interview at IGN in which John Graham says:

There are no more vampires. They took the vampires out. There are no zombies or monsters either… This is more about the narcissistic side of people’s characters. God knows why they took the vampire characters out. I can’t say if I was pleased or displeased, that is just the way it is.

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh played the vampire and it looks like he has been ousted from the flick, which leaves us with… apparently a shit ton of darkness. An R-rated promo reel has shown up online featuring a whole hell of a lot of somber looks and reason for despair. Seriously, I like dark films but this looks like it wants us all to go kill ourselves after watching it. Check out the preview below and let me know what you think. The Informers doesn't have a release date yet and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Brandon Routh, Ashley Olsen, Jon Foster, Lou Taylor Pucci, Austin Nichols, Amber Heard, Chris Isaak and Brad Renfro in his final performance with Gregor Jordan directing.
