'Dark City' Director's Cut Artwork, Release Date and Run Time

I am anxious to see how this one turns out

Well, I just received the artwork and running time for the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release for Alex Proyas's Dark City. This is a film that I actually had not seen up until about three years ago when I found it in the bargain bin at Best Buy. I think it ran me a whole $3.99. I had been meaning to see it for the longest time, primarily because the song in the trailer ("Sleep Now" by Hughes Hall) kicks all kinds of ass.

I liked the film, but the ending was a bit of a 50/50 for me. I have only watched it the one time and have been meaning to revisit it, and it looks like I should before July rolls around.

There has always been talk of a director's cut and Warner Home Video finally announced it today for a July 29 release. Along with it I have the artwork for the DVD version as the Blu-ray art isn't quite available yet, but if you imagine the cover of this on a blue box you pretty much have it solved. The film is going to have about 15 minutes of additional footage and all new special features. The original 1998 release ran 96 minutes and the director's cut clocks in at 111 minutes.

So, here is the trailer I mentioned along with the art… give it a click for a slightly larger version.
