Dakota Fanning Negotiating Role in 'New Moon'
14-year-old may have gain a new following
Dakota Fanning is growing up before our eyes — that is if you consider 14-years-old grown up. The actress who starred in I Am Sam at the age of seven was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award that same year and has gone on to star opposite Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington and Robert De Niro and with her upcoming role in Push there is an obvious effort to make the child actor look a bit more grown up and she is now reportedly in negotiations to raise her profile with the tween generation on an even higher level as E! says she may be starring in the Twilight sequel New Moon.
Marc Malkin at E! says Fanning has been offered and is negotiating for the role of Jane, a member of Italy's Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series. The report continues:
In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a "Botticelli angel-like face… [and] crimson irises." While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix "are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her," the casting notice reads.
The report also points out there is an online fan petition started by fans to cast Fanning in the role. I am sure Summit will announce the casting soon should negotiations work out.

Hm, I'm not sure if she can pull this off, but I'd like to see her at least try.
I can't see New Moon not being better than Twilight (and I loved the first one) because it's a much better book, but I really hope they don't start tossing in known hollywood actors to do one of the "faces" instead of "talent" thing.
Dakota Fanning can be good.I'm glad she wants to expand her career. I'm looking foward to "Push." Let's just hope "throwing in a random hollywood actor/actress to attract attention" ends here.
i agree with the first post. i don't think that they'd throw in known faces though. but maybe because of the big chris weitz director situation he'd be considering it?
he seems like a more commercial director, unlike hardwicke.
if she does get the role i think she'll be able to get away with it though cos she is a great actress. she fits the part (physically) very well too (:
I honestly don't think she should play the role. She doesn't even look old enough to be Jane. Would she be able to play the role and keep it as it is in the book?
Hey, I like the idea of Fanning in the role of Jane! She'd be great; she really is a great actress, you know. Just because she acts in genre movies doesn't make her any less of an actress.
if she can get over that child-like view most people have of her and really get into the role then i think she can pull it off!
I think she will do PHENOMENAL in this role.
Absolutely perfect.
Hope she gets it.
I think Fanning would do wonderfully as Jane. As people who have read the books know, the role of Jane is one that is eerie and quite frightening (when considered seriously, that is). It would take a truly good actress to bring that across on screen without it becoming a cliche. I think Fanning is capable of that. I'm sure there are other unknowns who could pull it off, but with the limited amount of time that they have to produce this thing, is seems unlikely that they would have time to do that kind of casting search. So perhaps Dakota Fanning is the right choice.
is Dakota Fanning old enough to show up in Twilight as a teenager?
jordana would do a much better job. http://stephlesx13.deviantart.com/art/Jane-111305034
that is a picture of her in the charicter jane.
TEAM JORDANA
honestly i can't think of anyone who will fit the role except for dakota as jane.,.,
