Cube Instead of Diesel in 'XXX' Sequel
Variety has reported that actor Ice Cube is in for the lead role for the sequel to Revolution Studios' action movie XXX.
The sequel will be directed by Lee Tamahori and the star of the orgininal film, Vin Diesel.
Cube will not be replacing Diesel, but simply starting over as a new character recruited by the National Security Agency to become a XXX agent. XXX refers to the three-strikes rule used by the NSA and gives teh criminals the option of choosing to fight the winning battle or be sent to prison.
Todd Gardner, Revolution partner, told Variety, "When we made the decision to cast a new lead actor, Cube was the perfect choice. He is a fantastic actor who has the attitude and versatility required to bring this new character to life. We are extremely indebted to Vin who helped us launch the franchise and look forward to working with him on the two projects we are developing together."
Before you will see Cube in his new action role you can catch him in anther Revolution Studios release, "Are We There Yet?" He also will be in next year's sequel to Barbershop and the upcoming Warner Bros. motorcycle pic Torque.
