Cruise Dabbles in CIA 'Salt'
New drama attracting some serious names
Tom Cruise's name is sure in the movie news a lot more ever since he managed to finally get himself out of the tabloid news (at least for the most part) and his latest soiree into the world of movies is a new role in Edwin A. Salt for Columbia Pictures and director Terry George.
George is the helmer behind Hotel Rwanda and the upcoming Reservation Road starring Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Connelly and Mira Sorvino.
Edwin A. Salt would place Cruise in the title role, a CIA officer who is fingered by a defector as a Russian sleeper spy. Salt must elude capture by his superiors and sets out to reunite with his family and prove his innocence.
Word is that Cruise is trying to fit one more role in after Bryan Singer's Valkyrie before the upcoming strike. Along with Salt he is said to be eyeing a remake of Doris Dorrie directed comedy Men for director Todd Phillips at Warner Bros.
Cruise's next role before Valkyrie is Lions for Lambs for Robert Redford set for a November 9 release.
