Cronenberg is Giving Out 'Maps to the Stars'
Dark comic grabs a dark director.
With The Fly and last year's A History of Violence under his belt it is about time David Cronenberg tackled something that didn't involve grotesque disfiguration of someone's face. This time around Variety tells us he has found interest in a Bruce Wagner-scripted dark comic drama called Maps to the Stars.
The films is about Hollywood excess and intrigue. Cronenberg told Daily Variety, "You could say it's a Hollywood film because the characters are agents, actors and managers, but it is not a satire like 'The Player,'… Bruce is brilliant about writing characters in this world, and I'd wanted to do something with him for ages."
Filming is expected to begin this fall.
