'Cowboy Bebop' With Keanu Reeves is Set to Go
Japanese anime series comes to life at Fox
I typically wouldn't post this, but someone a while back asked me about it in an email or a comment or something so if one person went to the effort I will do the same as The Hollywood Reporter confirms Keanu Reeves will star in Cowboy Bebop as Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter and former member of a crime syndicate. 20th Century Fox will distribute the film based on the Japanese anime TV series with Peter Craig writing the script.
The story is set in 2071, a time where "astral gates" make interstellar travel possible. Humanity, decimated by a lunar explosion resulting from a gate accident, spread out across the solar system, as did crime, which gave rise to the use of bounty hunters. Reeves would play Spike Spiegel who, along with Jet Black, a fellow bounty hunter and former cop, are the two pilots of the spaceship Bebop.
There is no word of a production schedule or a director. Below is a trailer for the Japanese anime series.

As one of the biggest fans of the series, I'm extremely worried, especially with Keanu Reeves and FOX on board. For the love of God, please don't ruin this!
Keanu isn't a problem, he is a good action star. The problem is FOX . I hope they get the original japanese team behind Bebop to make the movie.

Pedantry! That's not a trailer for the TV series. That's a trailer for Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door, the movie released well after the series was over. (Admittedly, it takes place during the series)

Keanu + Fox = Shitty movie
I love this series and actually think Reeves is a solid casting. But the FOX logo is hella disturbing these days.

What is wrong with "20th Century Fox?" They produced Star Wars for godsake! This is science fiction – not sure why everyone is so upset.
I do agree with everyone's opinion regarding Keanu Reeves, I just don't think he has enough range to play the lead for this series – he's too old. I mean, they should give the part to an up-and-coming actor.
I still can't believe this.
But then again, i recently went back and re-watched cowboy bebop episodes and I actually think that the guy could pull off the roll. I mean, the dialog itself is pretty simple in the show. I am more concerned about them messing up the soundtrack to be honest. If I hear mudvayne then I am going to be pissed.
