Will it be premiering in Toronto?

We've already seen an international teaser, but tonight EW has premiered the first domestic trailer for The Counselor, the new film from director Ridley Scott, written by Cormac McCarthy and starring a stellar cast, which includes Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Brad Pitt.

The film centers on a present-day Southwest lawyer (Fassbender) who thinks he can dip a toe into the drug business without getting sucked down. A bad decision. He tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation, but can he?

The film is due in theaters on October 25 and I can't help but cross my fingers and hope this debut is only the start of buzz leading to the upcoming Toronto Film Festival line-up announcement next Tuesday, July 23. I'm praying this one premieres up north.

For now, check out the trailer below and let me know what you think in the comments.

Could be really good but I'm mostly looking forward to how "great" Diaz's performance is supposed to be.

The trailer looks decent and i'll watch pretty much anything with Bardem in. Cruz would be the only weak link for me, her performances vary quite a bit and it normally depends on whether she is in her more comfortable spanish speaking role or not

    Looks really good.

This looks pretty good. Cameron Diaz looks really good in this as well, which I can say is surprising.

Yum, I like the looks of this one. The music makes the trailer for me.

This is how trailers should be done. It gives you an idea of the look, feel, pacing, and general story of the film, but gives away no plot points. A+ trailer.

Yes, yes, yes! Ridley Scott returning to the world of violence and drugs? Sign me up. I was a big fan of his American Gangster (2007), so I've no doubt this will be, at the least, a fascinating and well-made cinematic experience. Now, bring on the Blade Runner and Prometheus sequels!

    Thems the facts

Not sure what to think about this. Looks good but I'm not a big fan of Cruz or Diaz. Fassbender, Bardem and Pitt on the other hand make me think this could be great.
