Connelly Joins Keanu for 'Earth' Remake
Kathy Bates is in negotiations to join
Strike or not, projects are still moving forward (just with no writers) and actors are still being cast as Jennifer Connelly joins Keanu Reeves in the upcoming 20th Century Fox remake The Day the Earth Stood Still with Scott Derrickson directing.
Kathy Bates is also in negotiations to star in the pic, which kicks off as aliens land on Earth carrying a message for all humans: Live in peace or be destroyed. Connelly is set to portray Helen Benson, the role Patricia Neal played in the 1951 original.
Production is set to begin in December in Vancouver with a December 12, 2008 release date already set.
The Day the Earth Stood Still is Derrickson's follow up to The Exorcism of Emily Rose and was penned by Ryne Douglas Pearson with David Scarpa penning the most recent draft.
Connelly will be segueing directly from He's Just Not that into You, which she is currently filming.
