Have you seen Brutal Massacre. It has actors from like every scary movie in it. I saw people from American Werewolf in London, Evil Dead, Texas CM, etc etc. I'm not sure who directed this film, but it is about a washed up horror director. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMM,,,,,,

Great article Brad. Yeah we all have our tastes, I certainly dont agree that Hellboy 2 and Hancock were bad; the former was rejected by many and the latter was killed by the critics. But I guess that's the beauty of movies. We all relate to things differently.

Good article man.

I don't know if audiences will ever learn. Somewhere along the line, they convinced themselves that a good comedy is a series of slapstick gags and penis jokes strung together for 90 minutes. They think a good romantic comedy throws in a one night stand and a single parent, an action movie is explosions and car chases, and sports movies have a nauseatingly predictable forumula etc....

I guess people don't want anything that remotely reminds them of real life, so they look for a movie to be shallow and not require any mental effort on their part. So, because that's what audiences say that they want, then that's what studios deliver.

As far as relating to the characters, one of the things that can increase my ability to relate is not knowing who that person is. If I get the impression that I've seen the breadth of a characters personality in the first 10 minutes, then I tend to not be able to relate, because I know how he's going to react to the situations he encounters. Developing a detailed character can be difficult in movies for a number of reasons, but when they take the time, it definitely shows.

I don't think that you've become too cynical. I think that you just expect a little more from your entertainment than the average moviegoer. Actually, I want to thank you. I've bounced around to a lot of different movie sites, and most of them laud movies that I thought sucked, and vice versa. While I don't always agree with your tastes, I definitely appreciate your insights. I'd never actually taken a deeper look at movies until I started reading the articles here. I've been working through a lot of movies that I'd originally dismissed out of hand, and I've been enjoying myself immensly.
