Preview a Complete Track from Hans Zimmer's 'Man of Steel' Score and Colbert Says, "Superman is Obama"

The 'S' is for hope? Oh, really!?!?!?

Preview Man of Steel ScoreI've already posted a six-minute sampler of Hans Zimmer's score for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but today a full track from said score has been officially released. Titled "An Ideal Hope", which doesn't appear on the score's tracklisting, was officially released by Warner Music and can be previewed directly below.

The title of the song actually makes me laugh just a little because of Steven Colbert's comical takedown of the film and its use of the "S" on his chest and how it's not actually an "S", but stands for "hope" on Krypton. To which Colbert said, "This means "hope"? They're saying Superman is Obama!" I don't know, made me laugh.

Of course, fans all over, myself included, are hoping Zimmer has tapped into whatever groove he found with Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins and the excellent score for The Dark Knight. Give this track a listen below and let me know what you think.

    That was epic.

I like how the music slowly builds. I was definitely able to imagine Superman flying around and saving whoever or whatever during the soundtrack. Vert apt.

This is the backing music to the phenomenal third full trailer; it's one of the best previews I've ever seen and completely sold me on a film I still had some hesitation over, mostly due to Zack Snyder. But anything that looks and sounds this sweeping instantly has me very excited. The trailer is pitch-perfect and this music sublime.

Same track from the third trailer. Love how it builds slowly in the beginning and then, it goes BOOM the rest of the way. Just an amazing track, I LOVE Hans Zimmer.

I think the third trailer was really the one that convinced a lot of people who were on the fence about seeing Man of Steel, myself included. Hans Zimmer just seems to be the go to composer for blockbuster films. Especially for anything Nolan related.

The thing about this track is that it is SO Zimmer in super hero mode yet it doesn't feel like a retread. It feels wholly original to Superman. Very iconic. Maybe better than the Williams original.

I have to say this is quite epic...exactly what I expected from Hans Zimmer. I love the part when the drums kick in towards the end. I am so very excited to watch this movie.

This is the best 3+ minutes of movie music since Zimmer's score for "Inception".
It'd be super if the producers released another version of this cut with the trailer's dialogue in it as well. The spoken word inclusions worked spectacularly well on special editions of "Bladerunner" & "Apollo 13".

Double take. HOW can this track not be included on the album? Hopefully WB will correct this error.
John William's music for Superman rates near the top of his legendary career but if anybody can hope to match his work then Zimmer is the man.
