The only good presenters are the ones that make a joke out of it. Hopefully we get Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, Seth Rogen, Etc.

    • http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/profile/Newbourne/ Newbourne

Call me old fashioned, but I just like it when they just come out and present.

      • http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/profile/Chris/ Chris

Really? I find it so dull. When they don't make fun of it or do a skit, they take it too seriously or they just list the noms. Its so stale.

        • TheOneWhoKnocks

The skits, which I usually find unfunny, just cause the whole thing to drag. The Oscars would be better off without a host. Every attempt at humor just seems condescending and disingenuous, as if Hollywood is trying to tell us that it identifies with "we the proles".

          • http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/profile/Chris/ Chris

I give you that most of the skits are terrible, but that's because either they are done by people who aren't comedic actors or they do try to act like normal folk.

The most memorable presenters for Awards were Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig with Tommy Lee Jones stone-faced reaction and Ferrell Jack Black and John C Reilly singing. It can be done well and if you ask me these lil segments keep me awake. Because if we didn't have these comedic moments wed just get more of what you don't like. Either Hollywood trying to act like they are normal middle class everyday people or the exact opposite; talking about how amazing it is to be a part of it.

        • Aizat

Nah. Not everyone enjoys people make fun of the others, especially at the expense of others misfortune. Simple few lines jokes would do.

          • http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/profile/Chris/ Chris

Sometimes comedy needs to pack a punch. I think a ceremony where rich people give other rich people awards is the perfect time to knock some people down a peg.

Can't wait to see Menzel singing "Let it Go" live. Seeing Karen O won't be something bad either.

I'm a U2 fan, so this is good news. I've listened to all of the songs, so here's my ranking:

    1. Let it Go
    2. Ordinary Love
    3. The Moon Song
    4. Happy

I liked all of them, but Let it Go was the best in my opinion.

    Brad,
Will you be doing two things you did last year? Provide the order of the awards presented. And, do you know if the Animated Shorts will be released online? Last year, you posted them. It'd be great to catch them instead of paying the admission for the shorts programs currently running in many art house venues..
    Thanks!

  • JAB

U2 & Karen O are really the only reasons I'll be watching --DVRing-- the Oscars this year.
If Tom Hanks for "Captain Phillips" and/or Daniel Bruhl for "Rush" had been nominated then I'd be a lot more interested in catching more of the show.

    KAREN O KAREN O KAREN O!!!!

Sorry, I'm a fan of the Moon Song.

I'm a fan of Karen O period. Her voice is like...well, this website might not be an appropriate place to say what her voice is like :P The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are my jam.

I'm shocked they didn't get Demi Lovato to replace her. Disney doesn't seem to care about Idina anymore.

  • TheOneWhoKnocks

My inner cynic can't wait for the live Oscar commentary you guys will provide.

In other news, can anyone else believe that it's only two weeks away?

  • yao21

Karen O! Yey! I hope she wins the Oscar but im guessing U2 will win

  • Hudsucker

OK, so I think we can be sure that Cristoph Waltz and Anne Hathaway will be presenting. They usually have a big name movie star or Hollywood royalty presenting Best Picture. Maybe somebody like Robert Downey Jr. or Michael Douglas will present it.

P!nk will most likely be performing the In Memoriam segment.
