Variety’s Anne Thompson has posted a new item saying Summit and Lionsgate are counting on Comic-Con fans to help turn Twilight and The Spirit into household words by the time they hit theaters in December.

As for The Spirit, on hand will be director Frank Miller best known for his print work on “The Dark Knight Returns,” “Sin City” and “300″, but made his film directorial debut alongside Robert Rodriguez on Sin City and The Spirit is his first solo venture. At his side will be film stars Gabriel Macht, villain Samuel L. Jackson and Jaime King. Nope, no Scarlett Johansson or Eva Mendes comic geeks, I would have liked that too.

As for Twilight, it sounds like director Catherine Hardwicke will be on hand, but guaranteed is a clip from the film showing high school senior Kristen Stewart going to meet a hunky vampire at an empty dance studio. There is no word on whether or not any of the talent will be in attendance. The Twilight panel will be on Thursday, July 24th from 1:15 - 2:15 PM in Hall H.
