Ummmm, Maybe Paramount Will Have Something After All

Okay, we had that news from Variety earlier today saying that Paramount would not have a presence at the 2008 Comic Con even though they have films such as Transformers 2, G.I. Joe and Star Trek in the offing. Well, I just got an email from the publicists at Paramount asking me for contact information and saying “See you there…” Maybe they are just hanging out… who knows.

Paramount Ditches on Comic Con 2008

Anne Thompson at Variety has posted the following message:

Paramount Pictures will not be putting on any panels or bringing any stars to Comic-Con this year. They may do some viral stuff. But their big titles G.I. Joe, Star Trek, Transformers 2 and The Last Airbender won’t be out til 2009. Last year Paramount kicked off Iron Man at the Con, which played big there. “The timing was off this year,” said one Paramount spokesman.

Considering it doesn’t look like Fox will be bringing Wolverine to the table either it appears the footer image I made for this blog may need to be reworked entirely considering all three films promoted below will not be featured at the convention.

Comic Con 2008 Passes on eBay May be Fake

I would suggest not buying a pass to the 2008 San Diego Comic Con off of eBay as Variety is saying they could either be fake or won’t simply work due to the fact that the name on the confirmation and your ID will not be the same. Here is what Con spokesman David Glanzer told the site:

I would also discourage people from purchasing Complimentary Passes that may appear on auction sites or online community sites. These passes can be invalid.

Each complimentary pass is encoded with a bar code/number system. Each complimentary pass has been pre-scanned with the recipients information (whether that be an individual or a group). Even if the complimentary pass is left blank (as many are) the information is still recorded in our database.

If someone tries to redeem the complimentary pass and their ID doesn’t match what is on file, the pass becomes invalid.

So if you haven’t already got your passes, hustle up.

Zack Snyder On ‘Watchmen’ Presence at Comic Con 2008

Collider spoke with Zack Snyder and his wife Debbie at the 34th Annual Saturn Awards and had a chance to ask them a series of questions regarding Watchmen’s presence at the 2008 Comic Con and regarding footage, we all know they recently screened some footage (some 20 minutes worth), but we also knew we weren’t going to get that at Comic Con and I actually expect something more like 3 minutes just as they did with 300.

One thing that seems to be a concern, of course, is the fact that the footage will appear on YouTube and the need to be selective in what they show. “It’s a given it’s going to show up on YouTube so I think we have to prepare for that… It’s a couple minutes,” Debbie said, to which Zack continued, “We’re gonna show some cool stuff.” All fans will be seeing a little something come the release of The Dark Knight as both Zack and Debbie all but confirmed the first trailer will be seen attached to the release of that film on July 18.

Zack also was guarded against confirming that Nite Owl’s ship will be at the convention saying, “It would be crazy if that were to happen… It’s expensive to bring props… large props, but uh… you know, if the fans want to see something cool, sometimes you have to just bite the bullet.”

Finally, he addressed the issues regarding the film’s length, which sounds like may be hovering just over three hours and the battles he is having with the suits regarding an R-rated comic book film running that long. However, fans will certainly get more than their fill on DVD as the Snyder says, “The DVD with ‘The Black Freighter’ and everything could be something like 3:30 or something like that. It could be longer, I don’t know.” He says this as Debbie points upward in the background leading us to believe it will be considerably longer than even Zack may be saying.

Fox Confirms Comic Con 2008 Line-Up

While I don’t know specific times and days for the following, I do know that Fox will be featuring talent and most likely footage from the following films:

Unfortunately it does look like Wolverine may not be part of the plans, which is a rumor I have heard before.
