'City of Ember' Gets Four New Residents
Robbins, Landau, Jean-Baptiste and Treadaway are in
The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Tim Robbins, Martin Landau, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Harry Treadaway have joined the cast of 20th Century Fox's City of Ember as they join Bill Murray and Toby Jones in the Gil Kenan directed fantasy.
For generations, the people of the City of Ember have flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights. But Ember's once powerful generator is failing . . . and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, two teenagers in a race against time, must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city's existence, and help the citizens escape before the lights go out forever.
Robbins will play an inventor holding a secret to the magical, glitteringly lit city whose power generator is failing. Landau will play the boss of Robbins' character's teen son (Treadaway), who works at the city's mysterious Pipeworks as the son seeks to save the city with a fellow teen. Jean-Baptiste will play a tough greenhouse worker.
Shooting is under way in Belfast, Ireland and the film is set to hit theaters on October 10, 2008.
