Chicago Film Critics Have Made Their Choice… 'WALL-E' Takes Top Prize

On the heels of the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations the Chicago Film Critics Association (CFCA) have announced their 2008 winners and Pixar's WALL•E scores Best Picture, Original Screenplay, Animated Feature and Score (Thomas Newman). Not too bad if you ask me as Slumdog Millionaire also does quite well winning for Director (Danny Boyle), Adapted Screenplay and Most Promising Performer (Dev Patel).
The most noticeable ingredient missing would be Milk, which wasn't recognized at all as Mickey Rourke took Best Actor where he has been fighting neck-and-neck with Sean Penn all season. I also like seeing some attention for Kate Winslet's performance in The Reader for Best Supporting Actress, even if she wasn't the best of the year it's nice to see I am not alone in liking it.

good grief. all these film critics' choices & nominations for Best Picture are jumping all over the place. it looked like the nods for the Oscars would be pretty solid, but now that there's different curveballs going around, we might be in for a few surprises. remember last year, how Sweeney Todd was one of the better reviewed films of the year, won Best Picture-Musical/Comedy, & didn't even receive a nod at the Oscars? i sense that may be the case for one of the films this year.
Go Wall-E Go!
Wall-E is starting to look as if it is going for the Best Picture catergory and I hope it gets there.
Pixar has always made incredible films and I am just happy that one of them is gettin Best Picture consideration.
It is a long shot for it to be nomminated but I think that right now it has a better chance at a nom. then The Dark Knight.
