Check Out the Poster from Mark Romanek's 'Never Let Me Go'
Could be one of the better movies of the year
One of the year's remaining films that I am truly excited to see is Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go based on Kazuo Ishiguro's ("The Remains of the Day") novel of the same name and starring Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield.
Most recently I finished reading the book and don't really want to say much about the story as I think saying too much may give some special aspect of it away since I don't know how Romanek plans on handling the material. However, after watching the trailer I get the impression it actually could be better than the book. At this point I am holding out hope it ends up at the Toronto Film Festival… Fingers crossed.
I have included the brand new poster just below and below that the official synopsis released by Fox Searchlight, but if I were you I would just gloss over that part. If you want to avoid scrolling down altogether you can just click here to browse a slightly larger version of the poster in the RopeofSilicon gallery.
Never Let Me Go is set for a September 15 release and the adaptation was penned by Alex Garland (28 Days Later…).
In his highly acclaimed novel "Never Let Me Go", Kazuo Ishiguro's ("The Remains of the Day") created a remarkable story of love, loss and hidden truths. In it he posed the fundamental question: What makes us human? Now director Mark Romanek (ONE HOUR PHOTO), writer Alex Garland and DNA Films bring Ishiguro's hauntingly poignant and emotional story to the screen.
Kathy (OscarĀ® nominee Carey Mulligan, AN EDUCATION), Tommy (Andrew Garfield, BOY A, RED RIDING) and Ruth (OscarĀ® nominee Keira Knightley, PRIDE & PREJUDICE, ATONEMENT) live in a world and a time that feel familiar to us, but are not quite like anything we know. They spend their childhood at Hailsham, a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. When they leave the shelter of the school and the terrible truth of their fate is revealed to them, they must also confront the deep feelings of love, jealousy and betrayal that threaten to pull them apart.

I agree, this could be really good. I'm interested to see Andrew Garfield in a movie because I don't think I've seen any of his work, none that I can remember anyway. A beautiful poster.
I'm really excited for this one. The book is one of the best books I've ever read, so I'm hoping the film is as amazing as the book. The trailer doesn't disappoint at least, so my hopes are high.
