Charlize Gains a Woody and a Sissy
Niki Caro project gains steam, loses title.
The once titled Class Action, now referred to as The Untitled Niki Caro Project starring Charlize Theron has gained some cast members as Sissy Spacek and Woody Harrelson have joined the cast of Warner Bros./Participant Prods.' drama.
The film is being directed by Niki Caro, the acclaimed director of last year's Whale Rider and also stars Frances McDormand, Sean Bean, Richard Jenkins, Jeremy Renner and Michelle Monaghan.
The film was inspired by the book "Class Action: The Story of Lois Jenson and the Landmark Case That Changed Sexual Harassment Law," by Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy Gansler and centers around Josie Aimes (Theron) who has been abused by men all her life until she becomes fed up and does something radical about it. Her remedy is to become the key plaintiff in the first successful sexual harassment prosecution in the U.S.
Spacek and Jenkins will play the parents of Aimes, Harrelson plays Josie's lawyer, Bean plays the boyfriend of Josie's best friend Glory (McDormand), Renner is a mineworker and former classmate of Josie's, and Monaghan is Josie's fellow mineworker.
Production is scheduled to begin in mid-February in New Mexico and Minnesota.
