Character Posters from John Woo's 'Red Cliff'
Will this make it to the States?
Monkey Peaches has up eight character posters from Red Cliff, John Woo's feature film since 2003's Paycheck. The film is due out in Asia on July 10th, but is yet to be picked up here in the States.
The film stars Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Koyuki, Shido Nakamura, Chen Chang and Fengyi Zhang and is based on historical events that took place in China 1,700 years ago and on a chapter in the popular novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms." Some 600 years after its publication, the book is still widely read in China.
The story is set in 208 AD, the mighty Han Empire was falling while China was controlled by warlords. Powerful northern warlord Cao Cao led his troops marching to the south in attempt to crash the south. Two warlords, Sun Quan and Liu Bei, set up an alliance to defend their territories.
You can check out three of the posters that were snapped at the Hong Kong International Film Mart and click here to check out the rest.
The only real thing I notice about any of the posters is how much the first one doesn't even look like the Tony Leung I am used to seeing. He looks insanely young for being just shy of 46-years-old.

"Monkey Peaches has up eight character posters from Red Cliff, John Woo's feature film since 2003's Payback…"
..you mean 'paycheck'?
Ahhhh.. Yes I do, I guess I was just trying to give Woo credit for a better film than the one he actually made. :)
Thanks for the heads up, it's all fixed.
