Four Character Images from Pixar's 'Brave'
Spend some face time with a few of the characters

Bleeding Cool stumbled upon some character images from Pixar's next feature film Brave. The one above features the film's lead character, Princess Merida (voiced by Kelly MacDonald) and her mother Queen Elinor (voiced by Emma Thompson). Described by the Pixar Wikia, Princess Merida is the daughter of a ruling queen who rules with supremacy and her expectations of her daughter made her to be distant and frictious. Merida is the most skilled archer ever seen and relishes in her ability wishing to retreat to a quiet life to pursue her dreams. She later learns how much her family cares and how much she can care for them. Merida is impetuous and tangle haired in both royalty and wilderness.

We also have a look at The Wise Woman (voiced by Julie Walters) and Lord MacIntosh (voiced by Craig Ferguson). Not a lot is known about the Wise Woman though I have seen her referred to as a witch, and Lord MacIntosh is one of the three lords of King Fergus's kingdom. King Fergus (voiced by Billy Connolly) is Merida's father.
As I stated yesterday when I posted the first poster for the film, the teaser trailer for Brave will hit theaters tomorrow in front of Pixar's latest feature Cars 2. In talking with Entertainment Weekly, director Mark Andrews said of the teaser, "What we want to get across [with the teaser] is that this story has some darker elements… Not to frighten off our Pixar fans — we'll still have all the comedy and the great characters. But we get a little bit more intense here."
Look for that teaser soon. Brave hits theaters on June 22, 2012. Here's the synopsis:
The rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland serve as the backdrop for Brave, a new tale that joins the lands ancient lore, stories of epic battles and mystical legends passed down for generations. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, Brave is the grand adventure of Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald), a skilled archer who confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage. The film also features the voices of Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. Brave, full of heart, memorable characters and Pixar's signature humor, takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D in select theaters.

they all lok fantastic, but right now it kind of feels like salt in the wounds after the reception of cars 2. why pixar, why? :'(
Pixar going darker and more intense? Wow, I'm surprised. Sounds like this will be their most adult film yet. Regardless, I'm sure this film will be yet another triumph. I must say, I'm glad to see them heading back towards the dramatic route of UP after the return to the Cars universe. Cars (and I'm sure Cars 2) are nice little trifles, but they just don't seem to live up to the calibur of Toy Story 2, Wall-E & Up.
Thems the facts
Cars 2 is much better than Cars.
Beautiful…so beautiful!
The Wise Woman character design looks inspired by Hayao Miyazaki character designs…nice.
" inspired by Hayao Miyazaki character design"
Not that Miyazaki's character designs are exactly original. He was inspired by Albert Hurter's work at Disney in the 1930's. As are the designs above.
