Is this essentially 'Fight Club' for girls?

For as long as I can remember Fighting has been the top previewed film at RopeofSilicon.com and if you are visiting this site prior to its April 24 release it is probably the first film listed at the top of this page. The only reason I can even fathom this is the case is due to the involvement of Channing Tatum and the fact he goes skins as he throws blows in some street-fighting action. Considering the film's popularity on the site I decided it wouldn't hurt to upload a few clips from the Rogue Pictures release as Tatum reunites with his A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints helmer Dito Montiel.

Fighting centers on Shawn Arthur (Tatum) and his chance encounter with a street-fighting coach named Harvey Boarden (Terrence Howard). Harvey teaches him how to fight and from what I assume a few life lessons along the way. You know how it goes, these scripts pretty much write themselves.

I have seen bits and pieces of this trailer and it looks a'ight, but my expectations are rather limited even though Guide was a pretty decent flick and probably the best I have ever seen out of Tatum in terms of acting. Based on what I have seen, though, and the interest it seems to have drummed up I can't help but think this may end up being the Fight Club for girls.

Featured below is the clip titled "Shawn fights the Korean opponent" after watching it the others should populate the "related" field afterward, but if you want to select from a list of all five clips click here. You can also check out our gallery of 22 images from the film here.

I agree that Channing was very good in "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints". He managed to project anger and impending violence without ever breaking away from his inherently smooth and graceful body language. I also liked some of his work in "Stop-Loss" particularly toward the end of the film in the graveyard. But I'm not liking his look in any of his next three films: "Fighting," "Public Enemies," and "GI Joe".

Jesus does not approve of fighting, although Mary thinks he is very sexy. We will be seeing this movie with God next week.
