Noah Baumbach was born and raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He made his writing and directing debut with Kicking and Screaming. He recently cowrote The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou with Wes Anderson. The Squid and the Whale is about his childhood in Brooklyn. He is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker magazine's "Shouts and Murmurs" department.
