Maureen Lipman’s film credits include David Fairman’s “Lighthouse Hill”; Jeroen Krabbé’s “Discovery of Heaven”; Paul Morrison’s “Solomon and Gaenor” (which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film); Robert Young’s “Captain Jack”; Dick Clement’s “Water”; Amy Heckerling’s “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”; Lewis Gilbert’s “Educating Rita” (for which she received a BAFTA Award nomination); Stephen Frears’ “Gumshoe”; and Peter Collinson and Bob Kellett’s “Up the Junction” (her screen debut).

She starred in her own television series, “Agony,” as well as its follow-up, “Agony Again” and “About Face.” Her notable telefilm appearances include Bob Brooks’ “The Knowledge” (for Emmy Award-winning producer Verity Lambert); Alan Parker’s “The Evacuees” and “Re-Joyce”; and the starring role of Shani Whittle in Piers Haggard’s BAFTA Award-nominated “Eskimo Day” and its sequel “Cold Enough for Snow.”

Lipman’s stage credits include playing Aunt Eller in Trevor Nunn’s acclaimed National Theatre staging of “Oklahoma!” (later videotaped for a television airing); and playing Peggy Ramsay in “Peggy for You” (staged by Robin Lefevre). She starred in the West End productions of “Lost in Yonkers” and “The Sisters Rosensweig”; and in several seasons at the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
